Las Vegas.

Drinks 3pm Wednesday 15th of July to go onto wherever. We can arrange a cocktail party as long as we know the numbers. I am thinking the Wynn Casino but will flesh out details to all once I return from Havana mid March.

Mark it in your diaries and post on this thread once you are a certainty :-) We can back up for lunch the following day for those still around.

The Wynn is very nice. spent a lot of time playing poker there about a month ago. The hookers are a class unto themselves.

I have a buddy who lives in Vegas so I might be able to make it up there for the weekend and stay with him. Just a short cigar filled 4 hour car drive there from my home. July in Vegas is miserable though weather wise. But as long as we are inside smoking it's all good.

Oh infallible leader, is it Tuesday, July 15, 2008 or Wednesday, July 16, 2008? I may be able to add on a day to a business trip if it is on the Tuesday. The Wynn is my favorite!

I have a sugestion for accomadations for all who are going.

I believe that the convention is held at the "Sands Convention Center"

not at the larger "Las Vegas Convention Center" which is connected to the Monorail.

Based upon this I might suggest using the "Venetian" which is attached directly to this center.

The Venetian is an "all suites" hotel of top notch quality. You get more bang for your buck in your rooms there.

They have just opened a new wing called the Palazo which is a huge new casino and shopping facility.

For those who like to play at The Wynn it is convenient to get to by the walk way over Spring Mountain Road. You can walk out of the "Palazo" and cross over the street to the front door of the Wynn.

Try staying indoors as much as possible in Vegas in July, it will be 120/F in the shade.

I am also wondering if this convention is open to the public? I am not in the tobaco industry (only as a smoker) but would certainly consider this trip if I could get into the convention.

I just returned from a Super Bowl weekend in Vegas, but I would like to see the RTDA.

Just for reference down the road. As smoking laws have tightened in Vegas it can be a challenge to find a good place to smoke. Some of my favorite places now wont let you light up until 11pm or later. But there is a really cool little boutique hotel called "The Artisan" which has a great cigar friendly lounge/bar in it. Lots of cool art, leather chairs, dim lights, etc. It is at I-15 and Sahara, just off the Strip. Usually pretty quite also.

Planning to attend the show and will extend stay to make the festivities. Had a great time in 2006 even thou Rob spent most of the night stuck in airport at customs. Lisa made up for it!
