anacostiakat Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I am not sure I really have a favorite. I have a collection that I have put together over the years. I have several compilations of traditional songs but also includes James Brown's Funky Christmas, Elvis' White Christmas, A Doo *** Christmas, A Soulfull Christmas and also one I picked up last year of remixes that is fantastic. I also have some digital recordings like Mel Blanc doing Porky Pig singing Blue Christmas. I am listening to Elvis' White Christmas right now. :-P
cadillacdoc Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 The Jethro Tull Christmas album is awesome.
cigargirl85 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I like this topic :-D I always look forward to the 1st of December when I feel like I can legitimately start listening to Christmas music (although an American friend of mind insists that Christmas starts the day after Thanksgiving). So anyway after reading your your post my resistance crumbled and just now I'm listening to Let it Snow - Dean Martin. I don't really have a favourite album either, but these are my favourite tracks from my dedicated iTunes 'Christmas' playlist (55 songs!): Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley Merry Christmas Baby - B.B. King Sleigh Ride - The Ronettes Thank God it's Christmas - Queen Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight) - The Ramones Santa Claus is Comin' to Town - Bruce Springsteen Jen
trumpetchris Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I think you have to go with Twisted Sister's Twisted Christmas. Honestly though, James Taylor did one a couple years back that is fantastic. Harry Connick Jr's album is really good. That's about it for me. I don't get into a lot of Christmas music. Seems like it's always someone's take on the same 12 songs.
Colt45 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I don't have a favorite album (though I do like the the Elf soundtrack), but I do like a wide variety of songs. One of my all time favorite songs is Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. I always look forward to hearing it this time of year.

Wiley Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 It depends on when you ask me! Right now, it's: A Charlie Brown Christmas - Vince Guaraldi Trio.

strayvector Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Fairy Tale of New York - The Pogues It was Christmas Eve babe In the drunk tank An old man said to me, won't see another one And then he sang a song The Rare Old Mountain Dew I turned my face away And dreamed about you Got on a lucky one Came in eighteen to one I've got a feeling This year's for me and you So happy Christmas I love you baby I can see a better time When all our dreams come true They've got cars big as bars They've got rivers of gold But the wind goes right through you It's no place for the old When you first took my hand On a cold Christmas Eve You promised me Broadway was waiting for me You were handsome You were pretty Queen of New York City When the band finished playing They howled out for more Sinatra was swinging, All the drunks they were singing We kissed on a corner Then danced through the night The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing "Galway Bay" And the bells were ringing out For Christmas day You're a bum You're a punk You're an old **** on junk Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed You scumbag, you maggot You cheap lousy ****** Happy Christmas your arse I pray God it's our last I could have been someone Well so could anyone You took my dreams from me When I first found you I kept them with me babe I put them with my own Can't make it all alone I've built my dreams around you

A Charlie Brown Christmas has been my favorite Christmas album for as long as I can remember. One family ritual involves watching the cartoon on Christmas Eve together. My second favorite album is Cyrus Chestnut's A Charlie Brown Christmas. A nice, jazzy interpretation of Guaraldi's original. Wilkey
