Here is a "little" teaser - something you don't see at every cigar store you walk into....

[photos moved to the Cohiba Gran Corona 35th Anniversary Humidor topic]

I beleive 35 of these were made, but I am not sure. It contains 50 Cohiba Gran Corona 35th Anniversary Edition Cigars. They are the size of a Monte 'A'.

Those pics were taken last night. I have not had one yet. If it was not midnight on a Sunday when I took the shots, I might have had one. It was very tempting.

I will try to take some pictures and notes for a review to post when I do get around to trying one.

» Keep em coming Don.

I'll take some more shots later. I have to go change shirts. I have been drooling on this one too much. I can't keep taking pictures now, or I am liable to try and light up more than one cigar at a time....

Back to the topic...

Partagas SD4 1996 - I think. It is in a box from 1996, but the wrapper does not match the rest. It may be from another box. It is tasty, but could be more. Compared to current releases, it seems like the flavor is just not quite on or rich enough.

Finally I am just about over this cold, I can almost taste things again.

Boli CE from '01 w/2 Sierra Nevada Pale Ales this afternoon.

BTW, nice pics Don.

Great Pics Don.

Do me and the Habanos world a favour and start a new thread for each one so that they are easily searched for in the years to come ;-)

Partagas Serie D No. 1 EL 2004

This cigar is starting to come around. They have always been very harsh and closed down in the past when I tried them. It only needs another 20 years or so of aging...

» Trini Reyes with coffee..Picked a good one! Have not tried my Partagas 2004

I have been looking at too many of my awesome smokes recently. I broke down and lit up something special this afternoon. I am having a Cuaba Distinguidos 2000 Edition. I don't have the jar, but I ave a couple of singles. I am about twenty minutes into it. It is amazingly rich, toasty and complex, with a very nice balance.

would be the first decent cuaba ever made.

I agree with that. I have some Divinos and some Distinguidos and they arent anything special. I will probably give them another shot in a few years.

I am actually smoking a change of pace NC. I am having my first Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic. I will report back with some brief details after.

***Update***

Not too impressed. Might be young and but it has been in the Aristo for about 4 weeks but it is full bodied, burning straight, with some what of a firm draw. probably a 6/10. I know people really like these but I'm not one.

Don...the "Jar" Distinguidos were the finest cigar made to date under the Cuaba Marque. They bare no resemblance to todays Distinguidos.

That is good to know. I might have bought some, thinking they would at least be similar. I have really smoked very few Cuaba's. I used to like Divinos when I wanted a short smoke. I much prefer a petit-robusto now for those situations. Divinos are such a little kick in the ass. I also have a box of Salomones from early 2004. I am not sure I ever tried them. I guess I should sometime soon.

I did not jump on the bandwagon when new brands came out. I have not tried San Cristobal yet. The only newer blend I have tried I think has a lot of potential is Vegas Robaina. The new Maestro RE Spain release is simply amazing.
