I have been lurking here long enough that I felt I needed to introduce myself properly before making any post in the threads.

My name is John and I live in the Central Virginia area not too far outside of DC. I love learning everything I can about cigars, ISOM's and NC's. It was about a year ago that I learned how helpful a forum like this can be. Beats CA magazine hands down.

My taste gravitate towards fuller body smokes these days, as I just kicked the Macanudo habit about two years ago. I like Cohiba, Partagas, El Rey Del Mundo, Punch, etc.

I like Fuente, Padron, Pepin, Tatuaje, etc. in NC's.

I have a wife that supports my passion in every way. She is from England, and when ever we go over to visit family..........The first stop is usually over to see Desmond Sautters shop on Mount Street to find some aged/rare goodies.:ok: She never even complains about the crummy exchange rates.

I work in Public Saftey Fleet Management, and my hobbies include winemaking/collecting, hunting, fishing, camping, reading, restoring my Porsche, and of course cigars. I also think it's worth mentioning that I spent a stint in my younger years in the USMC. Best thing that ever happened to me, next to my wife and children.

Hope to see you Botl/Sotl around to learn fom you, and hopefully, contribute (See some familiar faces already). Thanks for having me.

Welcome to Friends of Habanos John. I'd surely be interested in hearing more about your winemaking, when you have time.

Not to beat you about the head after your first post, but feel free to refer to your Cuban cigars as Cuban cigars, Habanos or Havanas :-)

What's an ISOM? :lookaround: Yes, we call them Cuban cigars or Habanos or Havanas.

Welcome, my friend. Very good to see you here. You've found a wonderful and unique corner of the Habanos world.

Hi John and welcome. I work just along from Mount Street and the store. Ironically Des had to put up a notice in the shop after the new law on smoking in the UK stating:

No Smoking. It is against the Law to smoke on these premises.

Hello Mel,

I don't know wether to think that is funny, or sad. Mostly sad I think.

I did not get to make it over the last time with my wife to see Desi. But, she did all right suprising me all on her own. She bought me a box (5) of 80's Davidoff #1's, 50's Dunhill Habanas Cabanas, 60's Don Candido, and a few other treasures. Yep, she's a keeper.

Thanks for the warm welcome from all. Looks like a very friendly, informative place here.

Sure! I'd love to tell you about it. Maybe I could send you a bottle for an honest opinion. I have a Luna Rossa Red that I vinted around Christmas 06 that seems to have mellowed quite nicely as of late. It has a nice smooth oak finish that has developed. Maybe you could get together with.......(Can't think of your reviewers name at the moment)..... and do a review. Just have a back up in case it's not up to your standards.

And yes! My wife does have a sister, but what do you have against Ken?

Quick question: Is there a way to do a multi reply to more than one post at the same time?

I am a Porsche fanatic and belong to PCA Midwest. What model are you restoring? They are all great! I have three and sold one which was a mistake! Need a bigger garage! :-(

Yes, but it's a little tiresome:

1/ Click REPLY and reply to the message as usual. Dont submit.

2/ Hold CTRL and press A, release A and while still holding CTRL press C. You have now copied the message and your reply to the clipboard.

3/ Go back to the thread and click on reply for the next message you want to reply to.

4/ In the reply field, go to the beginning of the window and hold CTRL and press V. This will paste your previous message and reply in front of the current message. Now reply to the next message.

5/ Repeat as necessary depending on how many messages you want to reply to.

JD,

I have a Pre A Cabriolet (not a Speedster) that I picked up from Michigan a few years ago. My wife found out she was pregnant (suprise) soon after I got back with it.

She quit a well paying job to be a stay at home mom until the little girl goes to school. Needless to say the Porsche budget suffered and halted.

I am putting her through college now to get her RN. She is on track to enter the work force again right about the time the little one goes to kindergarten.

I have started to do research, and have bought a few small parts here and there. Just like cigars, there is so much to know.

Once she is working again, we plan to build a home with a three car garage and a lift. The Porsche becomes a priority again then. She was just telling me how good I have been about it, and that she has not forgotten our deal.

It's a 1954 production. serial #6o 423

Everthing is pretty much there, except unfortunately, a volkwagen engine was installed after the original owner burned up the engine in the 70's. So that's going to be a hurdle I suppose.

Heh! We already talked to a builder (Beazer). They will incorporate it into the wine room. Now just for the moolah part.;-)
