What a beautiful cigar. Dark, smooth, and supple wrapper. I almost did not want to smoke it because it looked soooo good! But alas, cigars are for smoking. I was very excited to smoke the PL because the PLPC are such great cigars even when young. Also, I have been on a lonsdale kick as of late, so the expectations and excitement for the cigar were high.

Initial draw is very good and the smell at cold is cinnamon and paprika. I roast the foot and start to take some deep puffs. From the start, it has a very creamy texture to the smoke. Very large amounts of smoke come with each draw. First flavors to pop out at me are rich chocolate and light notes of caramel. Very enjoyable smoke so far. After the first inch or so, the caramel becomes more present and a little grassiness mixes in to replace the chocolate.

The PL is medium to full bodied throughout; never overpowering. Towards the middle, cream and coffe are noted along with the ever-present undertone of caramel. I absolutely love the caramel notes from PLs and I can't wait for the PL robustos that are coming out this year for the Asia/Pacific market. Back to the cigar; there is some earthiness to it now that also brings about some bitterness. Nothing too awful, just a reminder of it's youth.

Entering the last third, flavors are still the same. Caramel and more Caramel :-) . There are some hints of other notes such as almonds and honey. These last mere puffs, however, they do give me hope for aging down the road. The burn is not always the best and requires minor touch-ups along the way to keep it straight. As you can see from the pics, the ash is dark gray and fairly firm. Towards the end, the caramel is replaced by strong leather notes and some dried fruit flavors. I put it down with about 3/4 of an inch left due to some bitterness.

Overall: 91-92 with a very bright outlook for the future. This cigar has the ability to be a blockbuster in the future and after this smoke, it is very tempting to buy a box. It is a shame this is not in the regular PL line. Only real complaints I can say are that it is pricey (around $12 a piece I believe) and it could use a little more punch to it. I think I will have to fire up the Bolivar Colosales next...... ;-)

Mix in "cerrated the cap" and I would have sworn this was a Rob review. Well done and they do sound amazing. Did you just get these or have they been in your humidor a bit? Just curious how much rest they need to smoke this good.

I look forward the the PCC PL Robusto's later this year with even more anticipation :hungry:

I bought 3 boxes. Approximately $270 a box from Germany. I likem more than the PCs'. Smoother and more tasteful in a good way. Only through half a box so far.

Was thinking of getting 2 more for either down the road or sort of an investment pupose( Ya like that will happen) :-D

I was in Germany a few weeks ago and immediately bought a couple of these. The highlight of that evening's dinner was to light one at my table right in the middle of a fine restaurant. I felt half like a king and half like a criminal. When I asked whether it was okay to smoke, the waiter said "Please, sir - this is not America" and brought me an ashtray.

The one I had straight out of the store was great, very much along the lines of Mike's review. Tons of smoke, full body, nice flavors if a little one-dimensional. I even got the caramel I had always read about.

The one I brought home in my suitcase had a tight draw and didn't taste like much. Maybe it had a bad trip. On the strength of my first experience I had a box sent last week. Of course I couldn't resist and tried one right away. The draw was perfect and the flavor good. Now I'll let them rest.

Forgive the length -- this is my first post!

Thanks, Mike. Mine are going deep down into the forgotten zone, only to re-emerge after the Iraq war is over, and the world is at peace.

Nice review there Mike. Unfortunately, mine have suffered from draw problems, and with dry boxing they are 50/50. I bought several boxes also, and am hoping to have some left in 5 years.

I take it you wont be smokeing them for a few decades then ,now will you?

With the Born Idiot Bush, I dont think it will end soon.

He has signed a bill today to fund the war atleast till September. Looks like all the talk of the Democrats not voteing for the bill of funding meant nothing.

I think the only 2 that didnt vote for it is Hillary and Obama

This makes me want to go to Germany.

Wow nice review; I sure am glad I have a box stashed away. Servebig and I are going to Las Vegas next month, so I will probably bust one out there.
