Colt45
This doesn't really answer your question, but cost would be a major factor. Taking price out of the equation - I'll take two boxes of RA 898, please.
shrink
If you could pick up any of the following two boxes, which ones would you select and why? FWIW, here is my experience with these. Recommendations are 1-3 stars: Partagas de Partagas #1 2000 - only had '03's, but they're quite good. ***Partagas SD Conn #3 1999 - got a box of '99's. Outstanding. **Part Lonsdale 2000 - Got 'em. They're excellent, but watch out for plugs and tight draws on this year. SLR Lonsdale 1999 - never had a '99. '92's and '02's are good. **Punch Churchills 1998 - Got 'em. Early to mid '98's can be excellent. If you can get some from Fernando Roig factory (FR), don't hesitate. ERDM Tainos 1998 - Tried 'em, too mild for me. ERDM Lonsdale 1998 - never had one. **Bolivar Petit Coronas 1998 - Got 'em: very good, '97's are better. *Bolivar CE 1998 - Tried 'em: this can be a really delicious cigar. ***Trini Fundadores 1998 - Got 'em: a classic! La Corona Corona1997 - never had one. ***RA 898 2002 - Got 'em: - one of my all-time favorite cigars. BTW, if you have sources for all of these, you're my pal!! :-)

Taking price out of the equation - I'll take two boxes of » RA 898, please. Like he said, without a doubt. They don't make them any more and they are one of the three best cigars I have smoked to date. The other great ones mentioned, like Boli PC and Fundadores, are more generally available and still being made.

Little Steve
» If you could pick up any of the following two boxes, which ones would you My picks would be the RA 898 Var 02 and RdM Tianos 98. For what its worth, here is my experience with the fallowing: Part Lonsdale 2000 - My cab is outstanding and my DB has a very very tight draw. Punch Churchill 1998 - Ive only had singles from this year but they have all been a very pleasant lovely Churchill. Nice soft wood, a little cream, little spice, very balanced. I can never hold on to the younger ones long enough to age. ERDM Tainos 1998 - My favorite. Very balanced, tasty, versatile, the flavor transition is great. Great size and presentation. ERDM Lonsdale 1998 - Another great cigar, my box is smoking great. Bolivar Petit Coronas 1998 - One have had one box so this may just be me. Bland, boring, and the little flavor that was there was not very appealing Bolivar CE 1998 - Same as the PC with a little more strength. Same vendor so they may have been stored poorly. Trini Fundadores 1998 - Great cigar but for the money id rather have others. I get grass, butterscotch and a floral aroma, medium strength. La Corona Corona1997 - Very nice for the price. Dry wood flavor, not terribly complex, mild in the first half, pretty medium to full bodied toward the end. RA 898 2002 Great balance, very appealing flavors, nice full body, medium strength. Herbaceous, very nutty, and semi-sweet.

cls515
I'd really like to try the RA 898 and the Trini Fundadores 1998.
Mel
Boli Ce and Trinis. Some one above stated that theyare not making any more of the RA 898 and that is true but they are not making any more of the 98 Trinidad Fundadores either.;-) Both of these cigars have the guts to mature over the long term as oppossed to the ERDM which are les bold and tanic. Punch just suck as far as I'm concerned.
Van55
Partagas de Partagas #1 2000 Partagas SD Conn #3 1999 Part Lonsdale 2000 SLR Lonsdale 1999 Punch Churchills 1998 ERDM Tainos 1998 ERDM Lonsdale 1998 Bolivar Petit Coronas 1998 Bolivar CE 1998 Trini Fundadores 1998 La Corona Corona1997 RA 898 2002 I've tried the bolded entries from the source I suspect you are considering and they are exceptional cigars. For my own taste, I would lean toward the Pargtagas and teh BCE if I had to choose just two. I have also tried those that I have italicized and consider them a notch below the bolded ones for my own taste. The others I cannot comment on. I personally would be leery of the 1999 and 2000 offerings as they have been around quite awhile and those years were marked by HUGE increases in production, with resulting inconsistency of quality -- moreso with lonsdales.
