These just arrived, and I couldn'r be more excited. My understanding is that the entire line was discontinued in 1989, and these guys date from Nov '85. The new NIVELACUSO dating started in 1985, and you can actually see the date stamp on the bottom of the box along with the Hecho in Cuba stamp (I know most boxes had the little Cubatabacco tobacco leaf stamp above the Hecho in Cuba stamp, but there were others without that stamp.....check out the MRN book for pictures of the Quai D'Orsay Claro Claros). Anyways, enjoy.... I will probably smoke these once a year on my wedding anniversary.

» Damn strong cigars! I smoked one from the '70s that still kicked like a

I actually wrote a review back in September when I had a chance to sample one of these fine cigars that was given to me by a god friend. Actually, that cigar is what prompted me to seek out an entire box. You can find my review here.

I am working my way rapidly through a musty box of these, they are absolutely superb. No doubt one the best cigar's I have ever tasted...

I am new to very old cigars 20 years + but the FOG's know what there talking about...just some marvellous falvors and nuances you dont get in even well matured (3-5 years) sticks.

I would agree with the 98/100....I have never had an old Dunhill but if they are better than these they must be freaking orgasmic!!

Very interesting that you say this. I got some 1991 La Corona Panatellas just over a month ago, they smelled very musty on the way in. I put them in my humidor and the musty smell is still there, but much diminished. Did yours keep the musty smell and still smoke well? I have been hesitant to smoke one until the musty smell goes away.

Yes the musty box is starting to diminish in mustiness...BUT I have found that I like the musty flavor in the cigars so I have put the box in a zip lock bag to try and preserve the mustiness as long as possible..

Mine also had a musty smell, and I ended up taking the cigars out of the original box and placing them in another box. I have left the original box out of the humidor (empty of course) to air out. It has worked wonders as both the cigars and the box have lost that musty smell after almost 2 weeks. I feel that it is the BOX that holds the mustiness in and not the actual cigars (though the cigars obviously smell musty because they absorbed the smell from the box).
