Ken Gargett Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 have not seen a lot of these - a few in havana in feb and loved them. so time to see how they were faring and i'd be fascinated if anyone else has had a look lately. lovely smell when cold - old leather, bark compost, a hint of cow pat (in the nicest way) and some mushroom notes. big and rich when fired up and the flavours at the moment may be a little too full for some. not a terribly subtle smoke. some nice creamy chocolate notes to be added to those detailed above. i enjoyed the flavours quite a bit, though suspect that with time to develop these will be far better smokes, but this particular cigar, and it was not something that had been a problem at all with any others, was the construction. i had huge trouble with the burn from about halfway, to the extent that the experience was lessened more than is appropriate. that aside, a good smoke but i won't score it because unless i encountered others with the construction problem, think it would be unfair.
gehrig24 Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 » I lovem !!! And available I too love this cigar, I have a box that I am working through and have never had one burn problem. I do not smoke them frequently but when I choose one it gives me everthing I am looking for at that time.

El Presidente Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I have had a few of these over the past weeks and have been genuinely surprised at the cocoa flavour profile. LE's can be a little hit and miss but these are developing nicely.
waldo Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Two out of the three I've tried out of my box have been plugged so bad I threw them in the fire. Needless to say, I won't be buying any more of them.

I've tried two so far, and they were pretty good, but I anticipate they will improve quite a bit with age. The draw was a little too firm for my tastes, so it was a little tough to get enough smoke to really judge flavor.
Bartolomeo Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Anybody else recently experience one of these? Bart
shrink Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I also like this cigar, and reach for it occasionally when I am looking for a reliable cocoa profile. These were real peppery ballbusters when young, but have mellowed considerably.
thechenman Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I've been looking around for the Ds of late, but haven't had luck finding them.
Ken Gargett Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 I've been looking around for the Ds of late, but haven't had luck finding them. not seen one for ages but they were terrific. should still be so.
Ginseng Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 This is one LE that I've truly enjoyed. All have been uniformly flavorful except one box from a European LCDH. That one was utter garbage in construction and taste. Wilkey
hsmunoz Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 first one I had last year was a tent pole, bought the box in Barcelona. Gave a few away. went back to the box last week and after as much time in the "right" conditions the cigar was exceptional! perfect draw, wonderful cocoa flavors, I kicked myself at the sight of the half empty box. man I wish I had just ignored them and kept them safe. oh well , the bright side is there are still a few left to enjoy over the years.
android Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 These are a very nice LE....I picked up a few boxes 3-4yrs. ago and I think they still around to be had...$20 a stick?

Mr Peales Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I have a box of these. I sort of forgot about them because no one ever chatters about them. I will try one soon and refresh this post. In the summer of '05 or '06 they were all over Spain for around $100 or $110.00 I think. -P
