Hey Guys & Gals......

There has been alot of discussion on how to store your cigars. These has always been educational to me, and sometimes down right confussing !!! I have a new Aristocrat cabinet being delivered on Tuesday. It is full climate controled unit. Where do i set the temp and humidity ??? Hmmm this is a big investment with the intention of "correct storage" in mind, i want it darn near perfect !! I have everything from DC's to to PC's. Alot of singles (150 plus) and about 28 boxes. I have always tried to keep my "eskies" and desktop at around 68/68. What do you think? Is there a good setting for short term and longterm aging? I understand i may have to dry box some before smoking. El pres mad a comment in a different thread about "3 weeks of bad storage conditions is long enough to damage aging potential" .....this made me very nervous. All your thoughts are appreciated.

My personal perfect scenario would be low to mid 60s F for temp,

65 to 67% humidity.

Just my own personal preference/experience.

Good luck with your new cabinet!

I have an Aristocrat, temp/humidity controlled I set it at 65/65. It has worked well for 3 years (not long by most standards) but I'm not changing.

I keep my storage cabinet around 62-65% rh and 65 degrees. My cigars smoke perfectly all the time, and I have maintained that level of temp and rh in the wine coolador for 3 years now.

I have stored most of my boxed cigars at 62% and 60F for the past 8+ years. I find the cigars taste and burn great. For the most part I store 98% of my cigars in their original boxes as I feel the box provides a significant buffer to variations in humidity. IMO humidity is a personal taste preference and a range of 60-70% will keep cigars in excellent condition. Within this humidity range consistency of the humidity level is far more important than the actual set point. As for temperature I am of the opinion that 65F and below will provide an environment that will keep ones cigars bug free. At 66F and above I feel ones cigars are at risk.

Nothing scientific here just what has worked for me over time.

Wow....great cab.

The Habanos recommendation (for Cubans) is 16-18 degC (61-64 degF) and 65-70% RH.

I think anywhere in the 16-18 deg C is OK with a target of the low end of the 65% RH is prity good.

I am maintaining between 57-61f and about 59-65%rh.

I have a wine cooler turned coolidor and because of the hot temps in Southern California, I have had the wine cooler turned on and the hottest it gets is about 60deg, with the light on, sometimes it goes up to 61 deg.

I have had an Aristocrat for about 6 or 7 years , and have always kept the humidity at 66-67%.

If it's a hot summer , i'll lower it to 65% to avoid mold.

It seems to work well for me and i have always kept @ 40 or so boxes of havanas + a bunch of singles...

congrats on the new Aristocrat ! you'll love it , bob Staebell is an artist !

Cohiba, do you have the thread where El Prez made this statement? What exactly defines bad storage conditions? I would be very interested in reading his opinion on this subject.

Congrats on the Aristocrat. I have one of Bob's endtable units and am atually taking delivery of an Avallo DDD Chilled unit today! I like a setting of 63 rh and 65 temp here in my area.
