westg Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Is that actually an Habonos release? They have done far worse than that. It's ok. Let's just say you had a 100 or so boxes you wouldn't want 5 or 6 of them in the mix. Especially if they had different types. For me it would be a one time purchase. 1
Popular Post LaoFan Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 I don't like when 'special releases' have normal cigars in them. If you're going to do something like that, at least put something unique inside. What am I going to do with that tin lunchbox other than get bullied by my friends at school? 1 6

Stevieboy Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I remember when that was released in Spain about 15 years ago. Almost definitely a Spanish region re-boxing, like the ceramic jars. There was a time when boxes of Monte 4 were re-boxed frequently in Spain. I recall a brown, two-level neoprene affair. Ugly AF but I still bought one! 2

And if you know anything about the Ford Edsel, then you'd know that it's the car you would never tack onto the front of any marketing campaign! Heck, The Simpsons even parodied how catastrophic the Ford Edsel was in their second season in 1991 in the episode, "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" (where Danny De Vito voiced the character of Homer's half-brother, Herb Powell). The Homer, anyone? 1 1
svmiiller Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I like boxes. So bonus to a box inside a tin box. I'd find something to put in it. 2
Fuzz AI Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Only good use is to take out the cigars and give the metal tin to your kid to put their school lunch in. Mind you, even though I think it is tacky, it is probably something I would have used when I was in school to carry my stationery. 1
Glass Half Full Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Fancy boxes don't do it for me. Almost every time I see one, I can't help but think -- I wish they'd spent more time and effort on what's inside and/or lowered the price so more could afford it. To @LaoFan's point, the old Jar releases are an exception to that feeling because what's inside them is often a far better version of the standard release ...or something even more special. To @Chas.Alpha's and @JohnS's point, a flimsy looking tin with an Edsel on it -- that just ain't the same as the beautiful ceramic jar with special cigars. My 2 cents. 3

My dad always had a running joke with me that when he popped his clogs he had set away 5000 shares of Edsel stock for me. I mentioned that to my sister as she was carrying out her duties as executor of his estate and she got wide-eyed and said “oh no, that gets divided between the 4 of us!” My brother jumped in my corner (almost straight faced) and backed my claim that dad had promised them to me. There was almost an argument brewing when I suggested she look up what the Edsel stock was selling for. I have no doubt that my dad always had my best interests at heart. 😂 P.S. I believe he also had stashed 500 shares of Hupmobile stock for me as well. 1
Chas.Alpha Posted February 25 Posted February 25 @Elpresidente btw Rob. If you run across one of those and it isn’t hideously priced more than a box of M4’s, you know I want one… 1
