Then we've probably reached the point where it's time to shut down the Hall of Fame.

I'm a Jets fan, and I was a Patriots hater long before I was a Jets fan. And even I can acknowledge he is one of the best coaches to ever coach in the NFL, and he has every stat to prove it.

Discuss amongst yourselves!

It goes without saying that I would have to agree. If Bill Belichick can't make the Hall of Fame on the first ballot as a Head Coach, then something is wrong, no matter how one feels about the legacy of the New England Patriots team.

Supposedly, they did it because Bill Polian thought making him wait a year would be penance for SpyGate. Ridiculous. He should’ve been a unanimous first ballot guy.

Some thoughts:

In general, I couldn't care less who gets in or not unless they are a personal friend or a family member of mine. Bored old guys like Polian are likely happy to stir the pot anyway they can just for the fun of it, or to prove they still have some relevance.  It's very odd that others agreed with him.

I'm guessing Belichick won't lose his girlfriend, or anything else, over this.

Ridiculous to have coaches and owners or front office mooks in the hall anyway. Just my opinion.

Exactly...cheater's tax. A year for spying, a year for deflating, a year for paying off refs, a year for...he should just be thankful it's not the Baseball Writers' Association weighing in - he would never get in!

And that's the problem. These media nerds think so highly of themselves, they actually believe they’re entitled to be judge, jury, and executioner.

Deflategate was mathematically demonstrated to be a total hoax. But hey media runs with something and people believe it. FYI, I’m an Eagles fan.

Deflategate, Spygate, snowgate...too many gates, regardless of the math. Put him in the Black Book next to Nicky Santoro.

You are right though that he should be thankful it’s not the Baseball Writers Association. They are a total joke.

If it were but for ONE player, he would have been a losing coach and fired quickly. And how he's done without that person?...A losing record.  He in no way deserves to be in on first ballot. North Carolina is learning that fact quickly.

I would be fine with a rule of cheating means no HOF. Totally. But I think his coaching is independently worth being in. They better hold Brady out a year, since the deflating was his idea.

Baseball writers are worse.

Insanity.

I couldn't stand him. My pops loved him. Nothing I loved more than the Steelers stomping the Pats in Heinz.

The other first-ballot coaches:

Vince Lombardi. Don Shula. Bill Walsh. Chuck Noll. Tom Landry. Joe Gibbs. Bill Parcells. Paul Brown.

There's some major names on that list... but Bill's the GOAT.

---

I just think that to me, I don't understand it," Brady said in a Wednesday appearance on Seattle Sports' Brock and Salk show.. "I mean, I was with him every day. If he's not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, there's really no coach that should ever be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, which is completely ridiculous because people deserve it. He's incredible. There's no coach I'd rather play for. If I'm picking one coach to go out there, to win a Super Bowl, give me one season, I'm taking Bill Belichick."

Belichick "unequivocally deserves to be a unanimous first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer," said Kraft, who is a contributor finalist for this year's Hall of Fame class, in a statement to The Associated Press.
