Monaco Getting First Edición Regional Cigar

Coprova S.A.S., which distributes Cuban cigars in France and Monaco, and Régie des Tabacs de Monaco, the local tobacco authority, have announced the new Ramón Allones Casino Edición Regional Monaco. It’s a 5 1/8 (130mm) x 55 parejo vitola known as montesco within the Cuban naming system, the same vitola as the Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchills.

Ramon Allones Casino To Debut In Monaco

The first-ever Regional Edition Cuban cigar for Monaco

The Casino de Monte-Carlo is legendary, the setting for more than one James Bond scene and the image that comes to mind when many think of the Principality of Monaco, one of the world’s smallest and richest countries. So now that Monaco is about to get its first ever Regional Edition Cuban cigar, it’s quite appropriate that its name is Ramon Allones Casino.

The cigars, which are expected to debut in a few weeks, measure 5 1/8 inches long by 55 ring gauge. It’s a vitola known as Montesco, the same size as the considerably popular Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill. 

The cigars will come in boxes of 10, each of them individually numbered, and production is being limited to 6,000 boxes, for a total run of 60,000 cigars. 

Prices for the new cigars have yet to be disclosed.

The cigars are part of a collaboration between Coprova, the exclusive distributor of Cuban cigars France and Monaco, and the Régie des Tabacs de Monaco.

“This first Regional Edition dedicated to Monaco recognizes the enthusiasm and expertise of Monegasque aficionados for Habanos. We are delighted to see such an emblematic project come to life, celebrating both the legacy of Ramon Allones and the excellence of the Monegasque market,” said Antoine Bathie and Damarys Maldonado, Co-CEOs of Coprova, in a prepared statement. 

“We are proud to present in the coming weeks this very first Monégasque Regional Edition, which pays tribute to the Principality’s historic connection with Cuban cigars and highlights the unique position of our market within the world of Habanos,” said Philippe Gatti, Director of the Monaco Tobacco and Matches Authority.

Monaco is known for, among other things, its stunning wealth, its signature Formula 1 race and a new and ultra-luxurious cigar lounge, which opened last year.

Fat, short and too expensive for what it is. A ridiculous release, but that's Coprova for you. They haven't released a Regional that I really loved since the Robusto Diplomatico.

We've been talking about Coprova's Regionals with friends lately and it's indeed appalling.... Portugal, Adriatico, Paises Bajos, Germany, Russia. Everybody's getting Lonsdales, Laguitos, nice vitolas and we only get fat Robustos, except the Clemenceau which was a nice Churchill but it's considered by many as the poorest recent ER.

I'm not the biggest special releases fan but, despite his size, I really enjoy the Qdo Capitolio, fwiw.
