What's up for the weekend?

Thursdays overnight boat trip was the best way...and the worst way...to finish up a the working week. Friday's hangover made me close to useless and now I find myself playing work catchup on a Saturday morning.  Still there is no better sleep than the night after the hangover. 

Relatively quiet weekend. I need to pack for Kuwait and Cyprus as I fly out midweek. Packing takes me a half day at least so I like to give myself plenty of time. Layout everything you think you will need...and then ruthlessly strip it by 30%. Works for me 

Sunday we are taking mum and dad to their favourite Chinese restaurant for lunch. My brother and his beautiful family will join us as we snack down on Peking duck and steamed ginger/shallot fish. It is tradition that mum needs to see me the weekend before I fly out.....anywhere. She will give me pearls of wisdom like "don't lick the door handles at the airport bathrooms" and "stay away from terrorists"  I will nod and acquiesce. This is literally a "rite of passage" for each trip. 

Throw in a couple of gym sessions, some long walks while practising a few speeches...and it will indeed be a relatively quiet one by our standards.

Off to Tony's (Joker) for a catch up and a little celebration with the Perth boys. Can't wait. Park up tomorrow and watch what's left of the 1st Ashes test. 20000 tourists in the city at the moment so the place is a hive of activity. All hotels are booked to capacity. It really is a blast in Perth this weekend.

Finished the week off with game night at the office. To have had half the office screaming 'Kill the Wolf!!!" in a game of werewolf, with accent thick and everything, was hilarious.

The simplicity of a steamed ginger/scallion fish is something to behold. Sometimes...less is more. I think Canton is getting to me because more often than not I'm enjoying the 'blandness' of Canton-style cooking and learning to appreciate the restraint it takes to make something simple taste so good. Doesn’t need to hide behind chili, butter, or theatrics.

After getting back from a busy trip to LA my plans this weekend are to do absolutely nothing. Not sure how my body thought 6a.m would be the right wake-up time.

Got my mom in town who famously only eats the meat of animals with 2 legs or swimmers, who also is requesting my 'famous' pho. Guess we'll be doing Phở Gà for the first time. Can't imagine the chicken carcasses will give as much flavour/gelatinous/fatty goodness...but will giver a rip.

I'm working like crazy on school reports. This time of year, the (administration) work seems never-ending! On the plus side, I decided to have a night off this week on Friday night, to start off the weekend, by smoking some the aged cigars I was gifted whilst on my travels to France last month. I plan to wrap up the 2025 Smoking Blog with these cigars. I smoked a Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No.1 today and it was sublime. Even other-worldly. It will be a challenge to write up a review to express how good it was.

Wife and I are going for afternoon tea at Raffles Boston. Both looking forward to it. Neither have been to this recent hotel addition in the city.

Went out last night with the wife and sister in law, we went to the movie theater and saw the new Wicked: For good movie. Wife is a big fan so I obviously tagged along lol. Good movie overall, even for someone who has very little knowledge of the whole story, it stays entertaining. For today, I’m smoking a NC cigar and getting ready to head out to run some errands and do some Christmas decoration shopping. Tomorrow (Sunday) most likely relaxing, watching NFL all day and hopefully get a cigar in to smoke.

Been hooking up my Kodi instance to Google home so I can talk to it again. Using local fulfillment though as I don't want to open it up to the internet! 

Lots of frustration so far. But got it all wired together. But the commands are being directed to another device at the moment! Most frustrating! Will figure out with the help of my AI friend what's going on...True technical enabler this AI stuff. Just got to police that is doing what I'm telling it to do 😁

I know...I could hook it up through HA but I'm a minimalist!

Tarped the Cigarden for winter. It’s now ready to be used as my Thanksgiving smokehouse for turkey dinner. It’ll barely be above freezing so I use this semi heated space to help control the cook. After Thanksgiving we’ll move the rest of our patio in here for winter storage.

Last weekend for deer hunting this year for me. Cleaning up equipment and clothes and start the butchering process.

I have younger kids (getting older) commercial Christmas lights up, with a set of cougar paw roofing boots to climb the rooflines. If they didn’t love the lights so much. I would have rather of watched the Bears sneak out another win (somehow) But they are up and everyone is happy.
