Popular Post JohnS Posted October 27, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 27, 2025 Cuban Montecristo Elba Edición Limitada 2025 Premieres In Spain The Limited-Edition cigar meant to celebrate Montecristo’s 90th birthday was unveiled at a spectacular event in Madrid Oct 27, 2025 - By Gregory Mottola Photos/Tabacalera S.L.U. It was a magical evening for Montecristo fans in Madrid this weekend. Hundreds filed into the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas—a bullfighting arena and concert venue—eager to try the new Montecristo Elba Edición Limitada 2025. The Cuban cigar celebrates 90 years of the Montecristo brand, and the gala was orchestrated by Spanish Habanos distributor Tabacalera S.L.U. and local enthusiast group Club Pasión Habanos. The Montecristo Elba was first announced at the Habanos Festival earlier this year, and the cigar is named for the famed isle of Elba referenced in the classic novel The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas. It measures 5 3/4 inches by 54 ring gauge, a format called Encantos in Cuban cigar factories. The bands are heavily gilded, similar to those found on the Montecristo Línea 1935 series. A foot band denotes the brand’s 90th anniversary. On Saturday night, more than 400 guests were among the first in the world to try the new Elba. Like other premiere parties, the Elbas were presented in “premier packs” and each cigar was fitted with a special “Premier” band, indicating that these particular cigars are part of the debut rollout in Spain (Habanos uses the spelling “premier,” which is defined as first in rank, rather than “premiere,” which means the first release of a product.) Every box contained two cigars. Habanos has held premiere parties like this in the past, most notably for the Trinidad Cabildos and Cohiba 55 Aniversario. Spain will be the first country to sell the Montecristo Elba Edición Limitada 2025 cigars. They will be offered in five-count boxes and released next month with a suggested retail price of 600 euros per box (about $700) or 120 euros per cigar, which works out to around $140. Only 10,000 of these five-packs are being circulated. After the five-count boxes have been on the market for a while, the Elbas will be sold in standard 20-count boxes. There is no specific word as to when each region around the world will receive their respective allotments. JohnS Posted October 28, 2025 Author Posted October 28, 2025 The only thing is, if this release turns out to be like the Montecristo 80 Aniversario Mk II, then we're in trouble! 1
Salomones Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Damn. That hurts. Canceled my pre-order for the Box of 20 in my LCDH. At this price, it's a no-go. 1
JohnS Posted October 29, 2025 Author Posted October 29, 2025 Montecristo Elba Edición Limitada 2025 Goes on Sale in Spain Next Week October 28, 2025 - Charlie Minato Next week, retailers in Spain will be the first stores to sell the new Montecristo Elba Edición Limitada 2025. It measures 5 3/4 inches (146mm) x 54, a new vitola for the Cuban cigar system that is known as encantos. The Elba honors the 90th anniversary of the Montecristo brand, which was launched in 1935 as a more affordable option from the then-H. Upmann factory. The brand’s name comes from “The Count of Montecristo,” and Elba is an Italian island that serves as a location for part of the story. While the standard packaging will be 20-count boxes, the cigars will debut in Spain in special five-count “Premier” boxes. that are priced at €600, which works out to €120 ($140) per cigar. In addition to the unique boxes, the bands also use the word “Premier”, something that Habanos S.A. did when launching the Trinidad Cablidos, a 2024 Edición Limitada release. There are 10,000 numbered five-count boxes. Given that Habanos S.A. does not typically number the Edición Limitada boxes, it’s unlikely the 20-count boxes will get the special designation. The Edición Limitada series is an annual release from the Cuban cigar monopoly. Habanos S.A. selects some of its most famous brands and produces vitolas that are not regularly offered for sale in that specific brand. The cigars use tobacco only from the Vuelta Abajo region of Pinar del Rió, which is then aged for a minimum of two years. They carry a secondary band that reads “Edición Limitada” and then the year they were announced. The Elbas that are sold in the five-count boxes will get a special version of the secondary band that says “Premier” under the standard section. There’s also a third band that marks the 90th anniversary of the band. Typically, Habanos S.A. announces three Edición Limitada cigars per year, but for 2025, there are only two; the other is the Punch Princesas Edición Limitada 2025 (5 3/10 x 52). This is likely because of the Romeo y Julieta Amantes, a cigar created for the 150th anniversary of Romeo y Julieta. For all intents and purposes, the Amantes could be the third Edición Limitada, but it’s not branded as such. The last time there were just two Edición Limitada cigars announced for a year was 2015, when the Montecristo 80 Aniversario was announced in a way similar to the Amantes. This past weekend, Tabacalera S.R.L., the Spanish distributor of Cuban cigars, celebrated the Elba’s release with an event in Madrid, hosted by Club Pasión Habanos. The 400-person event featured food, drinks, music, and, of course, cigars. Source: https://halfwheel.com/montecristo-elba-edicion-limitada-2025-goes-on-sale-in-spain-next-week/455701/ 2
