I remember black and white TV, warm up time, the white dot, antennas, only 5 channels, etc. I also remember Star Trek, Addams Family, Batman, Dallas, Rockford Files, Magnum PI, Seinfeld, etc. There certainly was TV before the Sopranos. We may be older, but we aren't gone yet. 😁 We regularly watch The Jefferson's. Just as funny today. Really stands the test of time. Same for All in the Family, but we don't watch it nearly as often. Archie Bunker's Place was not as good. 4
Popular Post Li Bai Posted October 15 Popular Post Posted October 15 I didn't mention Married with Children. Al Bundy is also one of the best TV characters of all-time to me. 6 1

loose_axle Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I enjoyed Slow Horses, Moblands and Dept Q. Just watched Terminal List Dark Wolf. Wasn't great, wasn't bad. Cancelled most of my subscriptions and working through some of my stuff on disc. Currently re-watching Band of Brothers and Generation Kill. 1

Great thread though, maybe I'll find inspiration here 🤞 Band of Brothers and Mr Inbetween both hold their with the best, although the Wire is special. The Sopranos is always great. 2 2

Thanks for the input I'll look into it compadre 👍 The Wire indeed is special. I had never seen anything like it, the writing is pure genius. I can't compare but I binge watched it, the Sopranos not so much, I got a little bored in the middle of season 4 but I'm glad I overcame it a few months later because the ending is without a doubt the best I've ever seen. In a much different way, the finale of Succession is bloody brilliant too. 1

Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted October 16 Popular Post Posted October 16 I will always have a soft spot for The Sopranos because it all took place in my neighborhood. I ate at the same restaurants, watched my kids play sports on the same soccer fields that Tony's kids played on, and have driven by the same landmarks a thousand times in my life, so it made it all seem that much more real to me. They even rented my friend's house to use for a few episodes. As people mentioned, there were many great shows prior to The Sopranos too, but I really think HBO/Showtime revolutionized TV. The Wire, Six Feet Under, OZ, Dexter, etc ushered in a whole new style of television that all of the streaming companies now emulate. 7 2

DavidNYC83 Posted Sunday at 09:24 PM Posted Sunday at 09:24 PM I'm a SciFi/Fantasy head so I been watching a lot of Apple TV and Paramount lately. I just finished Invasion and Foundation on Apple TV. I was going to attempt to try the 4th season of The Witch on Netflix, but good god it’s bad. 1
