Popular Post El Presidente Posted October 1, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 1, 2025 I did have a chuckle when I read this. "the UK government is implementing a ban on online advertising for foods high in fat, sugar, or salt (HFSS), along with a 9 p.m. watershed for television and on-demand services, effective January 1, 2026. This ban aims to protect children from unhealthy food advertising and is part of broader measures to reduce childhood obesity by cutting 7.2 billion calories from their diets annually." Does anyone actually know a 12-16 year old who watches TV/cable at all, pre or post 9PM? 1 9 1
cnov Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 My kids are already eating way under 7.2 billion calories already. I have absolutely no issue with this at all though, large corporations and supermarkets have been profiteering off feeding utter shite to the masses for decades. It's a good example of good governance in my opinion. I don't think kids should be advertised to at all, it's utterly perverse. We rarely watch actual live TV in our house but the fact companies pay millions to get the advertising spots in between kids cartoons in order to sell the latest plastic crap or junk food is bonkers. When you take a step back and think about it, it really seems off kilter but has become completely normal. 4

Like the advertising of gambling apps which are still permitted in most parts. Difference between gambling and junk food is the govt is making money off the gambling. Politicians and PS bureaucrats are truely piles of excrement. 5 3
Popular Post Chibearsv Posted October 1, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 1, 2025 Why care about advertising junk food to kids? They aren’t buying anything for themselves. I’m picturing my kids at 7 years old begging me for Twinkie's. 1 1 3

You don't have to look far too see the problem junk food has caused, my chins being a great example. 2 2
