This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world.

To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well!

Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor)   4-6 (Average to good)   7-10  (very good to excellent)  Use the Poll.

El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme. This can be a slightly divisive cigar in that there appears to be two distinct camps in the "I adore them" and "I don't get the fuss".

I think that is the way cigars should be. It is far more interesting when differing opinions fly!

El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme pop up from time to time but are they still worth chasing?

Today: El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme. Do you enjoy them? Fresh or aged? If aged...how long before they generally hit their stride.

Let's kick off the discussion

From what I have heard about this cigar it seems I have no interest in chasing any down. Maybe I should? Have tried the little ones. Meh. A couple of regionals I think.

I have not yet picked up any fresh, but I can tell you the boxes I’ve had from 08 were outstanding. I’ve had some 98 that were actually magical. I would like to get some fresh ones to age!

That's where my taste buds take a hard turn. There seemed to be a blend change or 2 between '08 and now as '08 was the last year I enjoyed. '13 was the last box I got and singles since then haven't shown a positive change in direction.

I'll keep trying on occasion,  but this stick has lost me for the moment.

Cheers!

Funny.  I have enjoyed these, ...but more so because certain friends have encouraged me to enjoy them :)

Truly old ones are quite good. However, I believe, if I'd simply come across this cigar in its current form (at current prices) I'd probably be less inclined to recommend them. At prices of yore, hell yeah. Quite nice, and quite reliably good. Given today's pricing, I'm a bit nonplussed about them.

I've only had one years ago so I won't vote, still it's one of the few "robustos" I'd be glad to purchase at least a handful of, given the chance.

I own 3 boxes and still chase them down. It’s one of the best value for money, mild cigars in the whole Cuban Portfolio. Hard to get though.
