El Presidente Posted Friday at 10:24 PM Posted Friday at 10:24 PM This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world. To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well! Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor) 4-6 (Average to good) 7-10 (very good to excellent) Use the Poll. You are more than free to comment away El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme. This can be a slightly divisive cigar in that there appears to be two distinct camps in the "I adore them" and "I don't get the fuss". I think that is the way cigars should be. It is far more interesting when differing opinions fly! El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme pop up from time to time but are they still worth chasing? Today: El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme. Do you enjoy them? Fresh or aged? If aged...how long before they generally hit their stride. Let's kick off the discussion
Popular Post Lucas Buck Posted Friday at 11:52 PM Popular Post Posted Friday at 11:52 PM Love this cigar. Wonderful bouquet of delicate sweet mellow flavors that typify ERDM. A must have in my humidor. 6
Popular Post JohnS Posted Saturday at 12:33 AM Popular Post Posted Saturday at 12:33 AM It's a long time since the heyday of this cigar in the 1940s and 50s, when the El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme was quite literally 'the greatest choice' amongst Habanos cigars in terms of luxury. (N.B. Choix Supreme means greatest or supreme choice in French). Since that time, firstly Davidoff and Dunhill and then Cohiba and Trinidad have replaced the El Rey del Mundo marca as the Habanos luxury brand/s. But I digress, nowadays there isn't much left of the marca and it's hard to imagine this scenario just seventy of eighty years ago. As for the cigar itself, I have an aged boxed that I 'cracked open' early this year and it has served me well. I've smoked through or gifted one-third of the box already. I wouldn't say that the aged ERdM Choix Supreme that I've smoked from this box have had a plethora of flavours; rather, I enjoyed their mild, subtle, somewhat softer flavours as a change-of-pace. 6 1
Ford2112 Posted Saturday at 12:48 AM Posted Saturday at 12:48 AM From what I have heard about this cigar it seems I have no interest in chasing any down. Maybe I should? Have tried the little ones. Meh. A couple of regionals I think. 2
qs210 Posted Saturday at 12:52 AM Posted Saturday at 12:52 AM I've always thoroughly enjoyed this one. 3
Havanaaddict Posted Saturday at 01:39 AM Posted Saturday at 01:39 AM I have not yet picked up any fresh, but I can tell you the boxes I’ve had from 08 were outstanding. I’ve had some 98 that were actually magical. I would like to get some fresh ones to age! 4

There seemed to be a blend change or 2 between '08 and now as '08 was the last year I enjoyed. '13 was the last box I got and singles since then haven't shown a positive change in direction. I'll keep trying on occasion, but this stick has lost me for the moment. Cheers! 2
Glass Half Full Posted Saturday at 05:04 AM Posted Saturday at 05:04 AM Funny. I have enjoyed these, ...but more so because certain friends have encouraged me to enjoy them Truly old ones are quite good. However, I believe, if I'd simply come across this cigar in its current form (at current prices) I'd probably be less inclined to recommend them. At prices of yore, hell yeah. Quite nice, and quite reliably good. Given today's pricing, I'm a bit nonplussed about them. 2
Li Bai Posted Saturday at 07:29 AM Posted Saturday at 07:29 AM I've only had one years ago so I won't vote, still it's one of the few "robustos" I'd be glad to purchase at least a handful of, given the chance. 1
Garand Posted Saturday at 02:07 PM Posted Saturday at 02:07 PM I own 3 boxes and still chase them down. It’s one of the best value for money, mild cigars in the whole Cuban Portfolio. Hard to get though. 2
BrightonCorgi Posted Saturday at 02:17 PM Posted Saturday at 02:17 PM Fun cigar but haven't had a box of them in a good decade. Too hard to find regularly. 3
Thirds Posted Sunday at 02:58 AM Posted Sunday at 02:58 AM These and the SLR Regios are two sleeper faves and a reminder that I should bolster the reserves on each while still less than $20 US. 3
