If you have a desktop humidor, there’s a good chance you’ve ditched whatever humidification system it came with and use Boveda’s humidified packets instead. The company’s “set-it-and-forget-it” approach to humidification has made it highly popular with cigar smokers, but some degree of retrofitting has usually been required. Today, Boveda announced its own proprietary humidor engineered exclusively for its signature two-way humidification packs.

With its sleek macassar ebony exterior and Spanish cedar lining, the humidor holds 50 cigars and is designed for a single Boveda pack that lasts for six months.

“After more than two decades perfecting humidity control, we applied that expertise to design our own humidor,” says Sean Knutsen, president and CEO of Boveda Inc. “We created this humidor to eliminate the guesswork of cigar care. From the moment you season it to the day you swap your refill, everything works together to protect what matters most—flavor, freshness and enjoyment.”

Each humidor comes with:

Three seasoning packets for one-time preliminary seasoning

One Size 320 packet for six months of maintenance-free humidification (69 percent RH)

Integrated wire mesh Boveda pack holder

    Two removable dividers

The humidor has digital capability as well. A built-in QR code connects to Boveda’s auto-replenishment program. Once you scan the QR code on the lid’s interior, Boveda will manage your account and automatically send you a new packet whenever it’s time to replace the old one.

For those unfamiliar with Boveda’s humidification products, the packets contain food-grade salt, purified water and a thickening agent. The humidity is time released for even, consistent humidification. Once the time period of each packet lapses, it’s time to replace.

The new humidor is available for $299 through Boveda’s website.

New Boveda Humidor Goes on Sale

Boveda, the company known for its two-way humidification packets, is once again selling its own humidor.

This time, the model is simply called the Boveda Humidor. Unlike the company’s previous humidor models, the new one is more of a traditional wooden humidor. The Boveda Humidor is rated for 50 cigars, measuring 12 inches x 10 x 5. It uses Spanish cedar on the inside while the outside is finished with a matte macassar ebony look accented by chrome finishes. The humidor is made in China with final assembly in the U.S.

In the lid is a magnetically attached wood and aluminium Boveda holder that is designed to hold one of the company’s larger 320-gram packs, which should be good for at least six months until replacement.

The humidor has a price of $299, which includes the humidor, a 69 percent 320-gram pack and three 60-gram 84 percent packs for seasoning. Boveda is only selling the humidor directly through its own website, meaning at least as of now, it will not be offered to stores. The company says it will begin shipping orders today.

“After more than two decades perfecting humidity control, we applied that expertise to design our own humidor,” said Sean Knutsen, president and ceo of Boveda, in a press release. “We created this humidor to eliminate the guesswork of cigar care. From the moment you season it to the day you swap your refill, everything works together to protect what matters most—flavor, freshness, and enjoyment.”

The humidor has a QR code, which Boveda hopes consumers will use to sign up for its auto-replenishment program.

“Our mission has always been to make cigar storage simple and reliable,” said Tim Swail, evp of sales. “This humidor brings together trusted performance, timeless design, and a fully integrated replenishment system that makes cigar care second nature.”

This is the third time Boveda has tried a humidor, though this model is quite different than the previous two generations. In 2015, Boveda introduced its first humidors, two models that were made entirely of seethrough acrylic. In 2021, the company updated its offerings with two new humidors that had similar acrylic shells but featured Spanish cedar trays. Both models were discontinued, though the designs are still sold by Northwoods Humidors and Industrial Cigar Co., two different retailers.

Nice box. But $300? Not for me. I have some nicer boxes for less $$$. But, there's always a but, I did buy wooden boveda holders that fit the same size packet that fit very nicely in the same spot.

Kind of bland looking but I'm in. I'll take the yelling.

"Another humidor?" "Where is THAT thing going?"..."It goes with nothing in the house!"..."Don't you have enough?"....and on and on and.................... :)
