Cohiba Siglo IV quality?

Have had x number of Cohiba Siglo IV over the years. Unfortunately they have all been bitter and harsh. At the price of about 70 US (in Sweden) this is more than a bit disappointing. Am I the only one with this experience? All the other Cohibas I've smoked have been very good to great (of course with a bit of variation). Therefore, I'm curious to hear if others have the same experience.

I can't say that specifically with the Siglo IV. In general, I think the Siglo series can be bitter, grassy and harsh when young. At which point, toss the box back in humidor and forget about them. I'm a big Siglo 2 and Coro fan, as those are just my go to vitolas, but Siglo 2s are definitely like that and become heavenly with age.

Yes, I have that exact experience, coincidentally! For a number of years I couldn't get a Cohiba Siglo IV to smoke the same way as my other Siglo stock, across a few box codes. Thankfully, I rested one box from 2015 and opened it this year. After ten years, the transformation has been incredible. I think I may go back to this box this weekend!

I’ve not had a Siglo IV but I’ve got a very similar thing going on with my box of Lanceros. They’ve been slung into the interior darkness and won’t be seeing light of day again for at least the next 10 years.

I find that the cigar is very sensitive to moisture content. 60%RH at 70 degrees F turns the Siglo 4, like most Cuban cigars, into one of my favorites!

Same here with recent Lanceros. Cracked a 2020 box for a test drive. Back to the bottom of the storage boxes they go. I haven't had a Sig IV for several years now.

Thanks John! The ones I've tried have been from 2017 and 2018. So maybe wait another 2-3 years then and hope for the best.

I keep all my Cubans at around 60-62%. So it must be something else in my case.

Sorry to hear that! The Cohiba Lanceros I've smoked have been wonderful. All from 2017. Fingers crossed they will improve!!

Fully agree. But the Siglo IV is the exception for me. That's why I was curious if others have had the same experience. Basically all the Cohibas I have and have smoked are from 2016-2018. All good except for that SIglo IV. I find it strange. It's a shame because I really like the Corona Gorda format.

Great post. I have never had a Cohiba, but a lot of good advice here. I been thinking about buying a box.

Siglo IV are the unsung hero of the Siglo series. Corona Gorda is such a great vitola. Give them three years. Then fire them up.

My Siglo IV are from 2017 and 2018. So 7/8 now. But I'll wait another 2-3 years before I try them again. Couldn't agree more. Corona Gorda is a great vitola.
