Haven’t touched this box in a really long time. Was a 40th birthday present a few years ago from some of my closest friends, fellow members of a small group who call ourselves The Drive-By Mooners…don’t ask. This corona gorda is one that many prefer with age, but I have had great boxes with only a couple or few years on ‘em, all the way up to 10 or 12 years. This box has some of the lightest wrappers I’ve seen on this particular smoke. I remember when I received them, actually being surprised by the light-colored wrappers. Velvety sheen, and lots of mottled, oily spots. Every one I’ve had from this box has been fantastic. Four years old when I got ‘em, seven years old now. Good the entire time.

Cold draw gives me a little honey, oats, and a tiny hint of salt. Light-up puff is a great combo of coffee, cream, cereal, citrus, and baking spice with a tiny bit of heat.

First third is full of delicious cocoa, some coffee, lots of orange, and a fair bit of nutmeg.

Around the midpoint, delicious milky chocolate, and orange liqueur. Some bright medium roast coffee on the finish. A lovely powdered sugar texture. Everything is very smooth, no elbows or corners at all. The flavors are melded together past the point of this stick’s age, as if it were much older than it is. Starts to turn to coffee and delicious crème. Some bright citrus still, but mostly a well-made flat white.

Last third has more bready notes. Less citrus, but it’s still there. Coffee remains. Some spicy honey on top of sourdough toast, with a little barnyard aroma. Around the band (or where it would be if this weren’t a blind), a little funky mushroom makes its way into the finish. Very nice way to wrap things up!

95 for this! Been awhile since  I smoked a 93 and a 95, on consecutive days.

It was a good gift. 4 years old (at that time) cab of JL1’s. And like I said, every one of them has smoked great. Hadn’t touched them in probably over a year, before this review.
