Popular Post Capn_Jackson Posted May 3 Popular Post Posted May 3 This piramide from 2018 is one with which I have a love/hate relationship. Used to be one of my favorites, but I have had only moderate luck with them in the past few years. Let’s hope this one will show me something today. Cold draw isn’t that revealing. Bright notes of coffee, a little twinge of cocoa, and some nuttiness. Light-up draw isn’t excellent. A little grassy, more coffee, and oak BBQ smoke. Going on, the first third offers me lots of hazelnut and cereal grains, along with splashes of mocha crème. Tangy BBQ smoke throughout, as if I were sitting near a smoker with ribs on. There’s a fine hint of molasses, too. Second third goes into marshmallow territory, along with some floral qualities and milk chocolate stout. Burn is good on this, much better than the last time I pulled one of these out. Around the midpoint, some chocolate-covered peanut comes to play. Decadent, and a very lovely texture. Almost creamy, but more syrupy I think. Last third, all the way past label territory, is a nice coffee and bread. Toasted rye. Some baking spice, a little cocoa but leathery more than cocoa. Nice damp earth. Great aromas throughout this whole stick. This more than makes up for the last one I had. Great hour and 40 minutes, and this gets a 93 from me today. Cheers! 5
