What's the reason for breaking a stem and inspecting?

I had this same thought as well. Maybe it's to show the health of the plant? I'd be curious for prez to chime in

No, that is our farm/supplier. 100% of our Honduran tobacco comes from here.

I will confirm when we catch up next week. 

Help release moisture and sap, potentially speeding up the curing process. But I am sure he is inspecting how the leaf is coming along in this pic.
