Popular Post Ford2112 Posted October 18 Popular Post Posted October 18 Ohtani was a hall of famer when he was born. Nobody knew it yet. Now everybody does. What he did likely will never be repeated. Except by him. And I am as anti Dodgers as anyone on God's green earth, but to not be impressed with how that organization is rolling right now would just be hating for hating's sake. They are the benchmark, and yeah they throw around money like gangbusters, but if your team did that you would be cheering all the way to the Fall Classic! The Dodgers aren't going away anytime soon. You better have the pitching to stymie that lineup, and you damn well better have a bangin' offense. 6
Popular Post JohnS Posted October 20 Popular Post Posted October 20 You have to admit, the Dodgers are having an even more comprehensive postseason this year than this time last year. And yes, not even Babe Ruth could emulate what Shohei Ohtani did in Gm 4 of the NLCS. As a baseball fan, I'm happy that there will be a Gm7 in the ALCS after the Blue Jays won Gm 6. 5
Goldeneye Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Looking very much forward to Game 7 tonight, been a fantastic series so far 4
mikejh Posted October 21 Posted October 21 That series was going to come down to whoever had the last home run. 2
Ford2112 Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Why, WHY pitch to Springer when you have an open base. You don't have to give him anything in the strike zone there. Mistake that cost the Mariners IMO. Now I have to root against the Dodgers for a team from Canada??? Ugh... 1 2

Puros Y Vino Posted October 21 Posted October 21 What a game. I thought the Jays were cooked before that sequence of events. You can sense loss in the air. The fans were kinda out of it. Unless CBS was muting the fan noise. So glad to be able to see them make it to the World Series again. The last two wins in '92 & '93 were a huge deal in this city. Vlad as MVP made sense, though Springer had the most magic moment. 4
RedLantern Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Pain. All part of growing up, I suppose. My 6 year old was in tears and it gave the opportuntiy for an important talk about keeping things in persepective and focusing on the positives in life is important 3

Roster with Nationality. Vladdy is Canadian-Dominican. (Born in Montreal when his dad played there). But that's always been the case. Most baseball players are from the US followed by some Caribbean nations. On the flipside, most NHL hockey teams are dominated by Canadian born players. Though that number has dropped over the last 20'ish years due to more imported players joining the league from other hockey-centric countries as well as a large adoption of the game in the US. 1 1

Ford2112 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 The San Francisco Giants have hired former Tennessee coach Tony Vitello as manager. I know little about him. My feeling is he must have some sort of past ties with Buster. Anyone know much about him? I don't follow college sports. It is intriguing to see what the game plan is here.

He was an assistant at Arkansas (my alma mater) before taking the Tennessee job. They won the national championship in 2024. 1
LLC Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Epic game 7 win for the Jays. Looking forward to Friday night and the start of the World Series. 4

He took a struggling college baseball team and turned them into a powerhouse. Since 2018, they have had a .722 winning percentage. Based on that, he's doing something right. 1

Popular Post Puros Y Vino Posted October 25 Popular Post Posted October 25 Wow. What a game. I'll just leave this here. 5
JohnS Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Well, the Toronto Blue Jays had a 54-27 record at home this year. So even accounting for the Dodgers' excellent postseason record this year, the result in Game 1 shouldn't be a complete surprise. 1
Popular Post riderpride Posted October 25 Popular Post Posted October 25 Barger pinch-hits a Slammer after spending the night on Davis Schneider's couch. Not bad for a bat that couldn't connect in the playoffs untill 7 or 8 days ago. He better spend the rest of the series there. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/video/schneider-says-barger-slept-on-his-pull-out-couch-before-game-1/ 5
