MoeFOH Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Picking a best movie for this year had me scratching my head, and I'm still struggling... sure enough, when I looked at Rotten Tomatoes best for 2024 (https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/best-new-movies/) there's a truckload of titles towards the top of the list, and all throughout it really, that I've never heard of... which means I've either got some great viewing to look forward to or 2024 was a just a crap year for film... so I'm going to abstain for now. 🤔 What's your Best Movie pick? For TV Series... I think I'm watching it now: Landman. What's your Best TV Series pick for 2024?
mikejh Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Didn't watch very many movies this year. Really enjoyed The Bear, Severance, and Silo, hard to pick between those three. 2
Cigar Surgeon Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 For new TV series? Fallout. Close runners up: 3 Body Problem, Agatha All Along, Shogun, Masters Of The Air. There's a pile of continuing shows that are really, really great like Slow Horses, Reacher, The Boys, Silo, The Bear, Tokyo Vice, Lioness, 2
SigmundChurchill Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 I’m a little late in watching it, but the best TV series I watched this year is, by far, The Offer. If I can think of a movie I liked enough to put here, I will edit in later. 2
chasy Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 +1 for The Offer. I actually rewatched it because it’s that good. 2
BigGuns Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Super late to the party, but started binging Yellowstone a few weeks back and am about to be caught up. Prequel-series next. I also started Landman and that one is pretty badass. Hard to stop watching after the opening scene. 3
Ciscojohansson Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 I really enjoy Shogun, the best TV dramas are almost always one season. Clarksons Farm is a great show and S3 was good, but not as good as S1. Movies that came out in 2024... The Killer, a least I saw it in 2024, was OK. Biggest disappointment: Dune 2. The angry woman and terrible timeline ruined it. 2
David8406 Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Best movie for me was Dune 2. Best series is tough…some really good ones. Shogun, The Offer, Yellowstone. I really enjoyed the visuals of Shogun and Yellowstone. The Offer is a better story. Have not started Landman yet but I expect to enjoy that.
Li Bai Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Agreed on Yellowstone and The Bear, not so much on Shogun 🤔 Best movie I can't really tell, I haven't been impressed this year. 1
gormag38 Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Best Series: The Bear, 3 Body Problem, Disclaimer, Lincoln Lawyer (while not new I'm currently watching it and have been impressed), The Boys Best Movie: Dune 2. Honestly that's really the only one that I can think of. We're in the golden age of television it seems.
mohammed.s.almutlaq11 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Fallout was the best series. I enjoyed it so much that i have finished it in same day! 2
loose_axle Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Movies I can’t really think of anything. TV series - Masters of the Air and Fallout.
Li Bai Posted January 1 Posted January 1 For those of you who are brave enough to watch a French movie, I highly recommend "Adieu les cons" by and with Albert Dupontel. Watched it a couple days ago (I've had it on my watchlist for years but I've also been avoiding French movies for some time now due to how dull the industry has become today...), amazing movie with amazing actors 👍 1 1
