El Presidente Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 I know a fair few members have purchased the Sisuman lighter (Torch/Soft Flame/both) on my recommendation........which when it comes to lighters, always makes me nervous. 🙄 Early days but let us know your thoughts...good, bad of indifferent.
Lamboinee Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 I saw someone else mention this lighter in another post a couple of days ago, so I looked it up. My experiences with most butane lighters over $20 have been not-worth-it. On trusted recommendations, such as those from members of this community, I would be willing to try this lighter. I would have pulled the trigger if this was a single torch. But, I'm still a little gun shy. Curious if others have enjoyed the soft flame or butane.
Popular Post LizardGizmo Posted December 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 11, 2024 Best torch I have and it’s not even close. I love the ease of lighting my cigar with it - not having to hold a switch down to light gives me even more control, especially on a more delicate Cuban. On consistency/quality, it wipes the floor with anything out of France/China as well as the $7 Amazon travel-safe lighters I’ve been using for awhile. The scissors are amazing too - perfect cut. The ashtray is the PERFECT ashtray/cigar holder for my truck. Brilliant reco Rob - these guys are a winner. I honestly can’t believe it! 7
mwaller Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 As a Finnish-American, I was delighted to learn about Sisuman products. I ordered a torch lighter, and have been very pleased with its functionality. Piezo igniters are fussy and can become misaligned, so the flint ignition of the Sisuman is a very welcome attribute. I also like that all routinely used features of the lighter - including the punch and filler valve - are easy to access without tools or long nails. The large tank provides good use time between refills. The criticisms I have a fairly minor: 1) The lid sticks straight up when lit. While moving the lighter in circles to evenly toast the foot of a cigar, the lid will occasionally hit my cigar. After increasing the flame height, this has become less of an issue. 2) The inside of the lid binds slightly with flint wheel. This means that my lighter has a slightly 'rough' feel when I first lift the lid. It also means that the lid doesn't always close fully without a bit of help from yours truly. The flint wheel has been wearing grooves into the inside of the lid, so perhaps this issue will sort itself out soon... Overall, though, it is a great product at a fair price point. 1 2
cnov Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 They're on my list to try it by current ones bite the dust. Would be good if there was a window to see the gas level, the clear cheapies are great as I can see exactly how much gas I have left. Running out of gas while out is never the one, especially as there are fewer smokers around these days.
pohlmad Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I bought the torch, soft flame, ash tray and scissors. All have been top quality this far! Thanks for the recommendation!

Chibearsv Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 How many times can the Sisu Lighter be dropped before it's dead? Any answer greater than 2 means I should be interested. Xicar Volta Quad tabletop lighter - Christmas gift last year - 1 drop = sputtering on life support Xifei tabletop single torch lighter - 2 drops = dead Xifei tabletop lighter Part II - 2 drops = dead DuPont Ligne II - thought I looked at it funny = dead. 1 2

Webbo Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 My agent in Finland sent me an engraved soft flame one over this week as a Christmas gift. Very impressed, really good quality (also got me their Finnish wooden drinking cup too which is great).
Blazer Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Not my style, but that is a classic old school design. 1
eaglebear29 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 I purchased one last winter and it lasted until I went out commercial fishing. It held up great until the cap on the spring loaded flint broke only leaving a majority of the threads inside. I managed if memory serves to get the threads out. I wrote it off for the time being, being busy all year long doing 3 fisheries and left it at home when we got some time in town. Then, fortunately I was reminded of it when I stumbled across the interview on here. Was going to contact them then immediately did when I learned more and how they stand by their products. I messaged the company and they were happy to help and get things in order to get me some parts to get it fixed. Glad the lighters were brought up again as I almost forgot I was messaging them, 😂. And glad for the video on the info as I was putting cheap gas and was wondering why the flame would sometimes seem to lightly fluctuate. So only good gas from now on. I will post and update when all things get going again, but in the meantime I’d have to say I’m really glad with their customer service. They were happy to help and get things going again. They definitely stand by their products and happy to see how long this thing can last. I love the old look and I got the duel flame as it gets pretty windy and nasty in the winters up here in Alaska, especially on the water. Was great for the boat and great for at home. 2 1

Once and it's done. I have 3. Bought them before they showed up on here as a reccomendation. The other major problem is that they are not great in the wind. Their torch nozzles sit too high and blow out readily. I keep a deep nozzle lotus torch when this one doesn't hold up. It's novelty is nice...and Sisuman is wonderful to work with. I had one broken on arrival that couldn't be repaired, and he sent another immediately. The other i dropped once and is now a parts lighter, which is why I have 3. Ymmv as always. 1 1
BigGuns Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 I picked up the soft flame and scissors after watching the deep dive. I love the design of both - the classic design of the lighter with the flip top sold me. I like the weight of the lighter and the precision of the scissors. Sharp as hell. The old school design of the lighter feels nostalgic, even though that is way before my time. It makes me think of my father-in-law lighting his cigarettes and Hans Landa blowing out the flame with a side huff after lighting his (not that those two have ANYTHING else in common….). A couple of critiques, if I may - this lighter needs a fuel level indicator. It feels like there is a massive tank in here, but I have no clue how full or empty it is. Also, the intensity dial is very small and finicky. Someone mentioned not needing tools - is the torch designed differently? I needed to break out my sunglasses screwdriver set to manipulate this one. Overall, solid “A” with just a little room to improve.
ha_banos Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Really like the styling, size and weight. Will probably get the soft flame too in the summer. Nice looking piece of kit. Very throwback styling.

However, this is typically a 1-time adjustment.

I tend to drop the intensity to minimum, refill, then adjust it back to the preferred level.
BigGuns Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Pro tip: the back of the scissors’ blade acts as the perfect tool to unscrew the refill/flame adjustment cover. 1
