El Presidente Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 "Nationally, Waymo boasts roughly 700 driverless cars on public roadways. While about 300 of those vehicles are in San Francisco, the rest of the fleet is deployed across Los Angeles, Phoenix and Austin, according to a Waymo spokesperson." Waymo One is growing steadily, serving well over 50,000 paid rides per week across San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. Regardless of the operator, who has managed to catch a driverless taxi so far? Thoughts? Any hesitations? Is this really the "next big thing".....and has it's time arrived?
Ford2112 Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 I drive in this state every day. Trust me, most of the vehicles here are on auto pilot. Proceed at your own risk! Especially girls texting, tourists, uber drivers, etc. As for driverless cabs I have seen maybe 1 or 2. They are not prevalent.
chris12381 Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 I have ridden in one as I don't dare venture into San Francisco anymore. A neighbor has set up a live webcam of the lot where the downtown San Francisco location where the Waymos park at night. It "sounds like" like they have solved the honking issue. 1
Chibearsv Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Nope, never ever. I’m a nervous wreck when anyone besides me is behind the wheel let alone no one 😱
cnov Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 A friend of ours tried one on a visit to SF a few weeks ago, said that it was brilliant and that the car felt like a particularly good driver. The big problem was that they'd given their daughter access to put her music on! 1
BrightonCorgi Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 The adoption of autonomous vehicles, both on land and in commercial air travel, is inevitable. 1
chris12381 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 These older gentlemen genuinely seemed to enjoy their experience. 1 1
