mohammed.s.almutlaq11 Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 I have been offered many cigars from unknown private collectors. I never buy, always sticking to well-known authentic shops with a super reputation and reputable on-line sites like Foh and dutyfree. I never buy anywhere else. Never!
Popular Post Fuzz Posted June 13, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 13, 2024 I'm gonna buy a bunch of fake cigars, so when I pass, the vultures... my friends will get a surprise. The real stuff will be cremated with me!!!! 1 4
Bijan Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 I bought 20-30 odd singles of vintage cigars a few years back from a forum member selling on behalf of an acquaintance of theirs. Amazing cigars. I still have 3-4 left. As always do the due diligence and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. 1
PigFish Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 I have zero feeling for cigar speculators. They take risk for profit, driving those who just want a good smoke on Friday, away from cigars. It is no coincidence that a sample of discovery is centric to a cigar auction site. If the person was a smoker and enjoyed the cigars for his own consumption, there would likely be little to fret over. In-mass buying would not exist if there were a steady ready source for a good cigar at the dime store. People do this shit because they think they cannot lose at it. No sympathy here. 2
Lamboinee Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Good reminder to be extremely cautious when getting unknown sources.
Edicion Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 3 minutes ago, Lamboinee said: Sellers and/or auctioneers may be liable if they do things that misrepresent items or deceive purchasers. Verbal announcements/statements made at the time of an auction and which misrepresent or deceive can create liability even if a written advertisement for the item does not include a misrepresentation or deceitful statement statement AND even if a previous written advertisement says that there "are not reprentations being made". Specific facts surrounding the marketing and presale interactions are very important. I would be curious if there were multiple bidders on any of the lots that were purchased and if it was an in-person/live auction or if bids were all online. Good reminder to be extremely cautious when getting unknown sources. I think it would be useful to read the first post in this thread again.
