Ever hear of 2015 Tequila Ocho, La Latilla, Extra Añejo Tequila (40%)?

I have not, but Ocho comes out with a number of limited/unique offerings. They have a few single estate options, a “fuerte” option that’s 106 proof or so (very good) and others. I would trust anything from them.

I saw this listed on the Berry Bros web site for £166 so it better be excellent!

Coming back to this originally I was more an anejo tequila person. I recently picked up another bottle of Artenom 1146 (anejo) which I had loved back when I first tried tequila but did nothing for me this time around.

Went and grabbed a bottle of Siete Leguas Blanco and Fortaleza Blanco. The Siete Leguas was sweet vanilla into the usual agave vegetal notes with a nice oily mouthfeel that gave no burn and went down so well (and quickly) I bought a second bottle. Yet to crack the Fortaleza. Learning now more towards blanco reposado for future adventures with tequila. Probably going to revisit mezcal again soon.

So happy this was on the list. It’s my favorite Reposado. I will drink this bottle easily in a day or two if I allow myself lol 😂, and you can enjoy it neat, no problem.

The tequila I am liking a lot right now is Mijenta Reposado. It's about $60.00 a bottle...a very smooth, sipping tequila.

I know many refer to it as the Blanton's of tequila, but Fortaleza really is unique to me. Love the Anejo with a Cuban cigar.

I just cracked open the Fortaleza Anejo. Very tasty. Berry Bros in London had the Blanco (very smooth) and Harrods had the Anejo so I bought two bottles.

i do like Fortaleza. a really good tequila. friends of mine were headed there last week for a visit. not heard yet but i am sure they would have loved it.

Never had an "ultra premium" Tequila I thought was bad. Side by side certainly I could order a preference, but by itself they're all good to me.

Lalo blanco has been my go-to, really smooth additive free stuff great in my Margs. The creator is the grandson of Don Julio.

For Anejo, I tried Tres Agaves recently and it’s pretty good for an organic additive free option I can easily find in my state. But I really need to try G4s offerings in general as well.

I’m thrilled to see this thread is still going strong. I don’t check this subforum nearly as often as I should.

G4 makes great stuff. Their two blancos (regular and high proof - 108) are great and their reposado is fantastic. El Tesoro reposado has also been consistently in my rotation.

If you can find it, Tierra Noble blanco is incredible. I tend to lean toward tequilas from Los Altos and this is an extreme version of it, distilled at 7200 feet. Definitely worth tracking down.

We buy the big bottle of Kirkland's Reposado. Does the trick for mixed drinks. We keep it in the drop in freezer.

This thread has been a great read and is just what I needed as an absolute Tequila novice. Not sure if I should feel bad for putting these in Margaritas but they've been incredible. Even the Mrs who isn't a big drinker has been loving them.

Going down a treat with a JL2. Does anyone have a preference of tequila for mixing or is life too short?

  • Cazcanes Reposado
  • Tapatio Extra Anejo
  • Fortaleza Blanco
  • Don Fulano Fuerte
  • G4 Blanco

A few of my favorite tequilas, all additive free.

Don Fulano Fuerte is excellent!  Another “hot” blanco that is smooth, full, and incredibly enjoyable. Ocho also makes a higher proof blanco that is worth pursuing. My favorite of the higher prrof blancos is the Cascahuin Tehona. It’s a little pricier, but if you’re enjoying Cazcanes, I’m not concerned.

Speaking of Cazcanes, if you enjoy the Repo, try their Rosa Repo.  No. 9, I think? I’m not a big Rosé guy, but this was shockingly good.

I responded to this and hit submit but don’t see the post, so if this is a double, forgive me…

I consider tequilas for margs the same as I choose wine for cooking - don’t use one you wouldn’t drink. That said, your lineup is better enjoyed straight for all their nuance and complexity, not to mention the dent on your wallet if you mix them at a decent click. I usually pour Lalo or Siete Leguas blanco for my margs (tequila, agave nectar, fresh squeezed lime juice, your choice of salt or Tajín rim, lime wedge or orange slice to garnish - your glass makes me happy). If you’re blending it or putting a bunch of other junk in it, Herradura blanco does the trick.
