What are your Top 3 Habanos?

Recommended Posts

My #1 would be a Romeo Churchill from 1991. Before they changed all the Marcas wrappers in 1997. #2 would be Partagas Shorts from 2019. I started smoking Shorts with my old man in the 90's on fishing trips so I'm a little partial. I think everyone's favorite is tied to a memory. #3 is PLPC's, I gravitate to the smaller Vitolas.

  1. Fonseca No 1, have boxes from the 70’s-2023, they always deliver.
  2. Por Larrañaga Panetelas, short smokes and requires a prayer to find them but always puts out the most delightful and obscure flavors.
  3. Por Larrañaga Petit Coronas, have had them from the 90’s-today’s time. Special when it delivers butterscotch. A cigar that reminds you of it the day following fire.

For me:

  • Upmann Sir Winston - remains the best cigar I’ve ever had
  • Bolivar Belicoso Finos - never disappoints, knock out every time
  • Por Larranga Petit Corona - the quintessential PC, salted caramel bomb every time and contrary to received wisdom ROTT.

I tend to only concern myself with one cigar at a time. I am a sexagenarian however and can be easily be distracted by things like women in tight jeans… and if that woman has left the room without turning off the TV.

Top 3 ever smoked:

1. 2012 Monte 2 (5 years aged)

2. 2019 CoRo (fresh)

3. 2019 Sir Winston (fresh)

Top 3 consistent (mainly based on what I've bought that I was able to afford):

1. RASS (4-5 years age) - the velvety smoke texture, extreme smoothness in retro, sweet floral stone fruit is an absolute pleasure to smoke.

2. BBF (3-5 years age) - smooth smoking Guiness accentuated by leather and mushroom, incredible.

3. Party D4 (fresh & aged) - sweet spice twang, a quintessential Cuban experience.

Only three cigars ever again? Endless supply? Then Lusi, Esplendido and Monte 1 or 2. Runner up Fundy.

Back on Planet Earth, three good options? PSD4, RG Perla or PC, and PLPC.

These would be at the top of my list for the top 3 cigars I have had. But I doubt I will ever get to smoke them again.

#1 70’s J. J. Fox Punch Nectares No.2

#2 80’s Dunhill Cabinetta

#3 70’s Davidoff Château Yquem
