JohnS
Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018 Goes on Sale in Switzerland April 5, 2024 - Charlie Minato News A more premium version of the Montecristo Edmundo has gone on sale in Switzerland. On Wednesday, April 3, La Casa del Habano stores in Switzerland began selling the Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018. As with other releases as part of the Reserva and Gran Reserva Series, this cigar is a special aged and limited edition version of the regular production Montecristo Edmundo, a 5 3/10 (135mm) x 52 robusto extra size. Pricing has been set at 180 CHF ($199) per cigar or 3,600 CHF ($3,976) per box of 20 cigars. Intertabak AG, the Swiss distributor of Cuban cigars, says that Habanos Specialist stores in the country will begin selling the cigars on Tuesday, April 9. Each year, Habanos S.A. selects a single regular production cigar from one of its largest brands to be designated as a Gran Reserva or Reserva. Currently, new Gran Reservas are announced in odd-numbered years and Reservas in even-numbered years, though recently, the cigars have not been shipped in the year they were announced. Technically, this release was the 2022 Reserva release from the Cuban cigar monopoly. As the name implies, all of the tobacco for this release came from the 2018 harvest. For a Reserva release, the tobacco is typically aged for a minimum of three years before the cigars are rolled and then the cigars themselves are aged for multiple years, much longer than a standard Montecristo Edmundo. Like previous Reserva releases, there are 5,000 boxes of 20 cigars. The cigars are differentiated by the silver and black secondary bands as well as the high-gloss black boxes. The Gran Reserva series is an even more premium offering with the tobacco aged for at least five years prior to rolling. Those cigars are sold in boxes of 15 and feature gold and black secondary bands. Interestingly, every modern Reserva release from Habanos has used tobacco from an even-numbered crop but that will be changing whenever the next Reserva release heads to stores. Earlier this year, Habanos S.A. announced the 2024 Reserva release: the Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills Reserva Cosecha 2019. joeypots
I’d bet a good Cuban cigar that they aren’t as good as the UTS OCT 11 Monte Cristo Edmundos from the PCC aged program I got here for less than 13$ a pop. I am totally skeptical of the Reserva blah blah blah programs.
Puros Y Vino
Meh. Never was into the original Edmundo. The PE is awesome though.
Wookie
I just realized I smoked 8 boxes of Edmundos since 2016. $225-245/box. The good ole days. Must have liked them more than I thought.
