Uwiik Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Smoked a 2022 Hoyo De Monterrey Petit Robusto this morning and loving it. It's been kept at 18.5-19.5 C (65-68F) at 62-63% RH, burn and flavor was spot on, only had to relight once for the entire stick with no effect on flavor whatsoever, slightly loose band indicating humidity on the cigar itself was OK. However, I experienced a blowout towards the end, nothing disastrous like a complete blowout but quite annoying nonetheless. What could be the cause for such problem? 1
Popular Post B44 Posted November 17, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2023 Dude I think this hobby is causing you more stress than what it’s taking away. My advice, try and enjoy it or take a break. Someone had to say it. 10 1 8

I am enjoying it, both the stress and entertainment…I even took classes on leather craft so I can make my own pouch for lighters, cutters, etc… have a look down here!! Have a look at my hand stitch on the single lighter case, it put Hermes and LV into shame!! 😁😁😁 8 1

I usually find the higher my expectations the more I get irritated when it doesn't go to plan! Best to keep expectations rock bottom with Cubans. 1 1
JY0 Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 I don't see a problem with that cigar. It happens sometimes. 1

If someone is being very picky and feeling stressful upon smoking every cigar, esp Cubans then you are in the wrong field. 3 1
Ford2112 Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 You're dealing with cuban cigars. Feel lucky you got to the end. 3
SCgarman Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 OP, the three words you wrote "pursuit of perfection", you will not find nor achieve in this "cigar hobby". I can emphatically state this after 30+ years being involved in it. But I wish you the best of luck in your quest. 🙂 1
Rushman Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Hey man you do you. But to quote Tin Cup, “perfection is unobtainable”.Glad it was a pleasurable smoke. Don’t sweat the small stuff. rushman
Popular Post Fugu Posted November 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 18, 2023 To address the topic - three likely causes: a) accumulation of moisture/condensate towards the end, making the cigar swell and thus the wrapper split nearing the nub, b) minor damage done to the wrapper when taking the band off, or c) overfilled bunch near the head (sometimes in unit with a)). While c) is a not so uncommon construction flaw beyond smoker's control, b) is a non-issue really. Whereas a) could be a sign of the cigar being too moist or/and a cigar been smoked too hastily. With growing experience in cigars you'll know what it was. 7
Ford2112 Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 JL 2 in high humidity. It is par for the course my man. 2
Lamboinee Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 If you smoke the cigar down past the crack that developed, you'll never even know it was there....just keep smoking.
Bijan Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 This can and does happen much worse in the first third. Like the other guy said, you're lucky that you made it to the end 😅 1
Ford2112 Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 I have found cigar glue can save the day. Also if you don't have a perfecdraw you may want to get one 1
