REUTERS/Alexandre Meneghini/File photo HAVANA, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Cuba in July recorded its hottest month since 1951, officials said, with the soaring temperatures on land and sea straining the country's decrepit electric grid and pressuring fragile ocean resources. The average temperature in July hit 29.1 degrees Celsius (84.38 degrees Farenheit), Cuba's Meteorological Institute said. The previous record on the Caribbean island, known for its sultry summers, was set in August 2020.
NSXCIGAR Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 I bet they didn't have any grid issues in 1951. 1

Arabian Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 I thought those were rookie numbers (as someone who's used to live in +45c) then I remembered my time in the Midwest with low 30's. and that was HOT, slowly suffocating.
shokao Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 I was talking to a friend last Sunday about climate changes and how the world seems a hotter place in the last few years. The poles are melting and even the white bears are losing weight due to food availability. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but the future doesn't seems as nice... 2 1

I'd rather be in that then 95°, 90% rH in Chicago.
