MagicalBikeRide Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Picked a couple up from J Fox in Dublin last week. Unsure how long they’ve been resting. IPA not my smartest choice. Packed a punch. A note that reminded me of kinder eggs - first time for everything. 2
Gamehawker Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 It has been a very, very long time since I ordered NC cigars and I just ordered 2 bundles of 25 of the Puro Desnudo - 2023 Carlota III. I am looking forward to smoking one ROTT and putting the rest away for a 90 day long nap. 2
Perla Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Thanks for the video. Smoked my last Carlota from 2019 on Sunday. More than happy to fill in the gap with new release. Rob/Hamlet, I simply can understand that this is your daily-go-cigar. It is mine as well. Thanks for doing this, highly appreciated 🙏. Kudos & love to you. 2
GoodStix Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 @El Presidente Rob, I know the Monte Esp 2 very well, but I never had the opportunity to smoke the Partagas SdC 3 you said these new Carlota have the “punch” of. Is there any other similar CC?

Is there any other similar CC? Nothing comes close in the current Habanos line-up to a PSDC No 3. It was the sole reason we made our first NC cigar in 2019 a Carlota. I miss that cigar and size so much. I don't miss the plugs however. 2 2
tsolomon Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 We tried them ROTT and they are very good. A little spicier than the Lancero and Petit Corona, but full bodied and a really good smoke. My wife and I both tried them, and they smoked very well and just had a lot of good flavors to them. 1
Gamehawker Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I finally was able to smoke one yesterday morning. The draw was perfect and the flavor was amazing but ROTT it was way too strong, intense, spicy and full body for me and I could only smoke half of it before I put it down.. I have 49 put away for at least 90 days and hopefully they will mellow out a lot for me. But I am thinking for my taste it will probably be at least 6 months.

Very strong and intense. That's not necessarily a bad thing though. 1
Perla Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 Normally I don’t smoke ROTT, but I couldn’t resist. it’s very fresh and the 90 days lay down time are a must. As all above stated, yes it’s a strong one, but not harsh. Quite round with flavour and I could manage to get some nice honey caramel touch while smoking. Couldn’t finish my cigar as it started to rain cats & dogs, again. will see it again in 2024.
djrey Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Curious, what kind of burn time are members getting on these?
Midas Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Curious, what kind of burn time are members getting on these?I’ve only had one ROTT, got a solid 50 minutes down to the nub. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
GoodStix Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Huge improvement with 90+ days down. Has morphed into an enjoyable affordable option. I strongly prefer Cuban tobacco flavour over traditional NC (and yes I’ve smoked many considered to be top tier examples, except for Padron which I haven’t yet sourced), so I assumed the Carlota would be excellent construction (they are) but flavour-wise just ok but not my thing. To each their own. But instead I’ve been pleasantly surprised. These truly are an enjoyable cigar, to my tastes. Great value. 1

I've tried a lot of Padrón at this point and still find the simple 2000 natural to be better than any of their super expensive anniversary fancies. A few 1964 anniversary piramides have been very nice too after ageing a couple of years. I've also discovered for myself that it's absolute nonsense that Padróns don't benefit from ageing because they're rolled with pre-aged tobacco. They 100% do improve, the often extremely harsh spice/pepper bite softens and a little extra sweetness and complexity come through. I think a lot of folk just like pins and needles on their palate, and harsh, charred flavour more than finesse and subtlety (maybe their palates can't pick up much nuance anymore!). Padróns vary quite a lot also, despite the hype about consistency. Some are the loosest wind-tunnels you've ever smoked while others are much firmer, and the blend seems to vary a fair amount from that harsh, spicy and charred style to some being much more soft, creamy and nuanced. I always keep a box or two of 2000 naturals resting away though as more often than not I love them as a cheaper option (bought in the US for 8 bucks each), and some of them smoke so good they can give some good Cuban robustos a real challenge. They have a very distinct and unique cocoa powder and biscuit/cookie quality, especially to the unlit aroma, which I do get a real taste for from time to time. 1
ElLoboLoco Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Enjoying one off the truck for a whole days rest. Lol I am truly impressed, Chocolate, fruit, salty bread like finish. Powerful but refined and zero harshness and the taste on the retro is devine. Draw and construction are top shelf. Very well made. This will be an hour and 20 minute journey. Thanks for taking on this project. 🙏 3
habanohal Posted August 9 Posted August 9 You like these then have to try the PC and sovereign sun. Best of whole line up. Everyday cigars for me while the Cubans can rest a bit longer. 4
qs210 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I go back and forth between these and the Petit Coronas. 1
ElLoboLoco Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I really, really enjoyed the ones in the sampler and grabbed three fivers. The fivers have been a little flatter and fairly mild after three in. The first smokes from the sampler were more juiced up in the flavor notes. My question here for you more experienced desnudo guys, is this something that needs some more rest time? 65rh and 65 degrees for maybe a month in since I received them. TIA *update: smoked another on the golf course and was on point. Maybe and additional week or two was the remedy 🤷♂️ 2

JDoughty Posted Tuesday at 09:20 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:20 PM The one I smoked ROTT was definitely tasty, with plenty of backbone for aging potential. My wallet will soon be groaning under the weight of all the ones from the sampler I liked enough to need a restock on. 😆 1
Fuzz AI Posted yesterday at 12:45 AM Posted yesterday at 12:45 AM I still have stock of the original and colorado/maduro wrapper versions.

Fuzz AI Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago 2 hours ago, JDoughty said: How are they smoking? Not enough Os in smooth. The original N3 still remind me of the old SdC#3. A dash of pepper/spice, some green capsicum, a touch sweet, no harshness whatsoever, light medium body. Need to revisit the colorado and maduro N3 to compare again. 3
