Bijan Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 For comparison I think it's 1.8 million Canadians visit Mexico a year. And that's the second biggest number of visitors to Mexico after the US. So it's not far off. https://capitalcurrent.ca/mexico-bound-snowbirds-face-stern-travel-warning-from-government/ 1

Things have changed for the worse over the past few decades. 3

There's no other logical source of bulk tourism for Cuba other than the US and Canada. https://www.flgov.com/2022/05/13/florida-tourism-continues-to-grow-in-q1-2022/ 1

I spent one night in Cancun while flying back from my first Cuba trip in 2016 and I never wanted to go back again. Its only gotten worse since. 1

Jan, Feb, March of 2023. Florida's tourism is off the charts. And who would want to venture to Cuba with the state of things there currently? No food, no fuel, expensive cigars, expensive rum. Only stats nobody posted were prices/availability of "working women" aka escorts. Clearly there are tons of Canadians vacationing in Florida. Food, fuel, cigars (NC's) are in abundance. Cuba simply can't compete. 1

Bijan Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 For comparison 800k-900k Candians tourists visit the Dominican republic annually. And total tourists is about 6 million. That's probably the fairer comparison. Not somewhere that's part of the continental US that half of the population of Canada can drive to, and that has DisneyWorld + other attractions. 1
