Popular Post Chucko8 Posted February 4, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 4, 2023 Nice opportunity to take the time to review one of the Baalbeck sticks. The stick itself is quite firm and not too much give in it, hopefully not over packed and overly tight. The wrapper has a lovely sheen to it and a colorado hue. I hesitate a touch before jumping in and cutting off the cap. Thankfully the cold draw reveals draw is ok and a slight cedar taste. Put it to the torch and away we go. The cedar note is there along with a smooth buttery feel and some light pepper. A touch tight on the draw but acceptable. The pepper fades as the first 3rd settles and the butter and cedar remains. The butter is creamy and has a light salted nature to my taste. Into halfway and that buttery cream is coating the palate and the smoke output is pleasing. Doesn’t really seem to be much development going on but the smooth feel is impressive as well as the construction on display. The ash is holding on beautifully. Into the final third and there is some development. Detecting some coffee notes now. The butter cream loses the salt and is replaced by some sweetness, which melds in with the coffee. This makes me think more of a Monte milk coffee feel. Would never pick this stick as a QD on a blind taste. As I move along a touch further raw almond comes along also. This takes me very much by surprise and I’m wondering if I had somehow been missing this earlier in the stick. Ash comes off and I happily take it down to the nub In summary this stick was very pleasant and can’t really complain of much apart perhaps from the lack of development until the end. Smoking time was just under 2 hours. I’d score it a 91. 13 1
KCCubano Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I have had a Cab for a year or so but have yet to sample. Mainly because most reviews say they need more time. With todays price points Im fine waiting a few more years. Great review! Do you feel for your palate that they will continue to develop more complexity down the road? 1

Hoping that they develop with some age like the 54s, I put my cab at the bottom of the pile and don't intend to crack it open any time soon. I'm glad to see reviews like this to monitor how they're coming along. 1

Yes I feel that they do the potential to develop more complexity to them and certainly hope that they do so. Definitely for the price point I’d like to see that come more into the cigar earlier than 70 minute mark.
NweakO Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Smoking my 3rd stick tonight. Of the two I had they were quite citrusy. To me they are very similar to the Upmann profile. I do love these. Have a cab resting. I remember smoking through the Sur quite fast and how I miss them now. Lebanon regionals seem to be always be a hit, so far. I will cherish these. 1
