Since the majority of us are being priced out of Cuban cigars.. Decided to try some of the NC's I've had for quite a while . My Son and I went out to a local cigar lounge with a FF Opus X and a AJ New world each..

All I got was Meh... out of the Opus and thought I may at least get something (pepper?) out of the AJ.. No such luck.. I will continue to look for 1/4 boxes here and hoard what I have....

I really thought I was in for a treat.. maybe they were stored too long and lost something in age ??

Placebos are very very real. Medicinal industries have been using them in studies for decades. Relaying this to cigars if you striped off all packaging I would bet you’d bat 40% at best for picking out cc vs nc. I’ve seen dozens and dozens of blind test with hundreds of participants and cigars and the best anyone can score is 50% which is no better than a coin flip. Bands, boxes and past experiences are very real. Hey ! Maybe the plain packaging levels playing fields :)

*Maybe you could try CC's that are less than premium like Jose' L. Piedra, Quintero, and if you can find them even some machine-bunched ones. To me, being Cuban tobacco they are just as satisfying.

Agreed. Haven't tried the JLP but the Quints are "not bad at all ".
