Popular Post JohnS Posted November 22, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 22, 2022 Life is Short. Yes, it's a phrase often bandied about but in my personal view, it becomes more relevant the older we get. I've been fortunate to hit the sixth decade of my life this year. In my home country of Australia, the final two months of the year are very busy in terms of work and social commitments as people tend to 'tie' things off prior to taking leave in January. When I was younger I would tend to focus on my work commitments and my social ones would be prioritised around this. Now, I'm fitting my working and social life in when the opportunity presents itself because, as I've mentioned, life is short. This past week I enjoyed catching up with Trevor Leask, our beloved founder of Cuban Cigar Website, for which we I know we are all grateful. I'm grateful too to that Alex Groom is running CCW nowadays. Who isn't looking forward to EL Habano Moderno coming out soon? What do you give someone who tried seemingly everything in terms of cigars? How about some N4 Nudies Marevas? I also enjoyed checking out a local Lebanese Restaurant which opened nearby where I live in Sydney, Australia. The place was almost full when I went there with my wife Eleni and friends Micha and Claudia who visited from Germany this week. The Taittinger complemented the great food wonderfully! Finally, we took my father-in-law to visit my brother-in-law on the weekend. We had a wonderful lunch and I took this visit as an opportunity to 'break open' my DesNudos N3 Colorado Rosado Carlotas I've rested throughout 2022 with my brother-in-law, @Cuzz. He was extremely grateful as it was of course a fine cigar to cap off a great lunch. Yes, life is short so here's an ode to make the most of one's opportunities! 23
Chas.Alpha Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Hear! Hear! Reminds me of something my dad said to me not long before he passed... "I'm almost surprised how fast it (life) went by." 3
targa88 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 @JohnS Couldn't agree more. Life is short. Seems to be speed up geometrically as you age. Hence my rules as there might not be a tomorrow... Do things you enjoy Spend time with folks you care about Tell them you care about them The rest is dust in the wind. PS - Noticed a haircut and a shave.... 1
El Presidente Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Great to see you and Trev together! Never miss an opportunity to catch up with great folk. 1
madandana Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 I love your spirit John and your travel bug. Wish we were closer so we could hang out with you and the Sydney Lads more. We feel fortunate for the times we have hung out and look forward to the next. 1
JohnS Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 Thanks everyone for your replies. @madandana, I look forward also to the next time we catch up together and wish we were closer.
Rhinoww Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Here here. Another well written post about being present and thankful. A contemplative read as I smoke a J-O custom, watch as Canada falls to Belgium and contemplate all that I am thankful for as we prepare for the America. Thanksgiving 1
