MoeFOH Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 MoeFOH's Movie of the Week 🎥 Each week we're going to spotlight a movie... be it a classic, new release, hidden gem, or outright turd... and open it for discussion: i.e. post up your favourite quotes, clips, memories... or dive deeper and give us a critique on why you think it's great, overrated, or a complete train wreck... And finally score it for us...  All contributors go into a monthly prize draw for a 3-cigar sampler! PM me with suggestions if there's a movie you want to nominate for next week's discussion.  Week #12: Big Trouble In Little China The only thing I'm going to say is this: why this didn't clean sweep at the Oscars in its time encapsulates everything that is wrong with Hollywood. Hall Of Famer for me. Over to you... How do you rate it? Favourite scenes? Best moments?... etc, and so on... post 'em up!! If you've seen it, give us your score out of 10!
Chas.Alpha Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 Absolutely! You know what ol’ Jack Burton says about this movie? Jack Burton says that if you don’t like this movie than you have absolutely no sense of humor that anyone will ever appreciate. Yeah, that’s what ol’ Jack Burton says... It’s all in the reflexes. 🤣 10/10 3
Ford2112 Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 "Aren't you gonna kiss her goodbye?" "Nope" That line alone gives this a 10/10. Whos doesn't love a little kung fu sorcery? The street fight scene where he runs over Lo Pan is great. The lighting bolt hat guys are great. That cheesy monster is great. The chicks are great. Lo Pan is awesome. And when that guy blows himself up like a giant hydrogen balloon makes for great cinema. Need we even have to mention the epic ness that is Jack Burton. Between Snake Plisken, Jack Burton, Captain Ron, Kurt Russell is a treasure. Who??? "JACK BURTON. ME!!!" 3

Fuzz AI Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I was just quoting this movie a few days ago. Definitely a classic that should be stored the the National Archives. 3

Between Snake Plisken, Jack Burton, Captain Ron, Kurt Russell is a treasure. Who??? "JACK BURTON. ME!!!" the chances of this movie sweeping the oscars were on a par with my home movies. but i do love it. great fun indeed. kurt russell has been in some classics - also liked his mr nobody in fast - but in fairness, he has been in some absolute shockers and had some very low moments. ego? bored me senseless in Guardians II. but none worse than that crap death race or death proof or whatever that tarantino drivel was. mind you, it says a lot about him that he managed to survive a career killer like that. apparently, no idea if this is an urban myth and although it sounds like it, i believe it is not, the last words walt disney wrote was on a slip of paper - "kurt russell". 1
BurstReynolds Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Kurt Russel is the GOAT (zero irony statement), and Kim Cattrall is babe’n at the highest level. So much fun. Not sure what else one could want. Haven’t seen this one in years but my fuzzy warm memory of it is a solid 9/10. I’m now searching for a streaming source and will probably be back in 2 hours to edit this to a 10/10. Kurt Russel is the coolest. 1
ElReyDel757 Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Absolutely loved it as a kid. Tried to watch it about 15 years ago, and couldn’t finish it. It broke my heart.
