Popular Post joeypots Posted May 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted May 16, 2022 I've been smoking one or two MCDE a month since I cracked the box. When this cigar came out I don't remember them getting much love but I needed to find out for my self if they were cigars I'd like. The size, 6⅛ X 50Rg was, before I got the cuban cigar bug, what I thought to be the perfect cigar size. Now I'm pretty sure the perfect vitola is Coronas Gorda at 5⅜ X 46RG. This Double Edmundo had a tough life and when I got to it it was a little banged up with a split foot and a bit of wrapper damage. It had a nice oily sheen on what appeared to be a somewhat thick wrapper. I tend to smoke cigars like this when I find them. I figure if it's a dud I'd rather know now. I put on the Boston Celtics vs Milwaukee Bucks and settled into the cigar and the game. The DE was potent right away. More so than the others in the box. The draw was a little loose but the smoke was thick and rich with Monte bean flavors and a lovely little citrus tanginess. The cigar was much stronger than I remember others from the same box being. I began to smoke it slowly with attention to the retrohale to get the most out of it. This was a good cigar even if it was a bit one dimensional. The burn was even and just a few touchups were needed. The wrapper damage had no effect on the cigar that I could discern. The Celtics dispatched the Bucks in the second half. After being down at the begining of the game they came back and never looked back. I'm a fair weather sports fan and pay attention to professional sports in New England when the teams are doing well or in the playoffs. I am constantly amazed by the athleticism of the players in the NBA. I'll give playoff basketball this year a ten and the MCDE 3 stars. 5
NSXCIGAR Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Getting 3 stars out of that stick like should be considered a huge win. I will say, as a big Monte DE fan I've always found the earlier examples (13-16) to be odd birds. I never really even enjoyed them until around 17. They've been pretty consistently great for the last 4 years.
