JohnS Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Hi everyone, Last week on FoH Zoom I caught up with @Bijan and @Chas.Alpha and we discussed a few Beatles' songs and how to play them on Acoustic Guitar. I made the following video this morning and I think it's a good guide as to how the song was played by Sir Paul. I didn't upload it to YouTube because it would be removed due to copyright reasons. I hope you can learn from it! If you can master this song, then in my opinion, you can seriously play guitar. It is quite challenging! I Will.mp4 4
Chas.Alpha Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Yeah, I probably should have clarified. I am a horn player #1, mostly hired as a drummer because I believe a drum is a supporting component for the lead instruments. I got rather good at it. Guitars are a writing instrument to me, but I love what can be accomplished with a good player. After they’re done cutting the track, I’d rather be done with them...😂 A really good guitar player carries his ego in a separate suitcase!!! BTW, I did play a gig with Chet Atkins while on the drums. Nice guy, liked fishing the same spots I did outside of Chattanooga TN. John, nice people like us will one day rule the planet. I just hope it’s in time... 1 1
Chas.Alpha Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 You know Sir Paul sang the bass track on this?... 1

Chas.Alpha Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 I always thought Her Majesty was a little stingy with Sir Paul. I mean, most everyone of note in Britain is dubbed “Sir.” Paul should have been named “Lord Paul, or His Honorary Royal Highness Paul...” My 2 pence. 1
Chas.Alpha Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Finally was able to open this! BRILLIANT JOHN! Thanks!!! I've got some work to do... 😏 1

BoliDan Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Nice. I love that Paul and John couldn't even read music. They called it just dots on a page, and describes notes as just sounds that has a relationship to each other. They would just play, and if they forgot the song, it wasn't worth recording. I recently found out this is pretty common among great rock bands. Dave Grohl admitted the same. "None of us could read music… None of us can write it.” John Lennon admitted this about the band in a 1980 Playboy interview, “but as pure musicians, as inspired humans to make the noise, they [Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr] are as good as anybody.” 2
