I have seen this frequently in Havana but as flights to Europe take off late night and land opposite way never in this detail.

Sorry sight - especially that DC-10. The last aircraft is a general aviation GS in perfect order... the only one.

I'd be worried about FOD when taking off out of there..

Roger that - but the taxiway is way off the runway, this was taken mostly on telephoto.

FOD I'd be worried would be stray dogs ...

This is more interesting to me, if I am not mistaken we are seeing 3 of the 4 Ilyushin Il-96 Cuba bought (and maybe all 4, I think the one in the hanger is one too).  Cuba is the only country that bought the aircraft for commercial use (It was a failure on the commercial market).  Also the Il-62 is cool as I think NK is the only country still using it.

Wonder when the last time any of them flew. Not the greatest place to store long term. I’d love to have a go of the 4 rear engined one though!

Yep, you're right about the IL-96 - but about the IL-62 : I don't think NK is still flying it, but they were until very recently.

PS : You are correct : There are still IL-62's in service in NK :

That's the new planes for the FOH Airlines. Rob got a good deal on them!

Looks like one of them is still flying and has flights scheduled https://info.flightmapper.net/flight/Cubana_de_Aviacion_CU_470

Not bad - one is still active ... after IATA kicked out Cubana from their ticket system a few months ago and it is basically broke and with no aircraft ( the B-737 that crashed in HAV 3 years ago flying nto SDC was a wet leased MEX a/c)...

But of course it is all to blame on the bad, bad, bad empire ... :

https://riotimesonline.com/brazil-news/mercosur/cuba/cubana-de-aviacion-denies-ceasing-operations-after-iata-measure/

Cubana de Aviación denies ceasing operations after IATA measure

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Monday, the state-owned airline Cubana de Aviación assured that it would not cease its operations despite the measure of suspension of the BSP payment compensation mechanism in Spain applied by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

A note published on the company attributes the measure notified by IATA to “one more effect of the U.S. economic and commercial blockade” about the embargo that that country has imposed on Havana for six decades Facebook page.

Likewise, Cubana de Aviación affirms that this IATA decision “does not mean the cessation of operations (of the airline) as some media have rushed to report.”

Yup, the IL-96 are actaully their ONLY active aircraft right now. They only Fly Between Havana and Madrid/Barcelona or Havana-Moscow. Since the Russian government is the only other user of the Type, I'm sure they have some type of MRO deal worked out.

That’s a lot of water in between.

That's why you Bring 4 Engines! 😄

@NinoThat DC-10 is actually quite famous. It's Air New Zealand's last example and has quite a history. Unfortunately, it looks like it will rot in that spot for the foreseeable future, even with new engines, it cant be airworthy any more. A couple links and a Video of a couple guys trying to "Buy" it.

I'm a huge "AVGeek" and I absolutely LOVE Flying into/out of Havana. You see Airlines and Aircraft there that you just dont see in the US. On my First trip I actually flew Cancun-Havana on a Sukhoi SuperJet 100, pure Russian Metal. It was very cool and an opportunity I wont get again. I attached some photos of that plane and a few others that I took in Havana.

@Nino You're correct. Cubana hasnt had a domestic fleet/operation (beyond ground staff) for at least 5 years. The black A320 below was wet leased and flagged in Bulgaria when I flew on it To/From Santiago in 2017. Their website said the flight would be operated by one of the Antonov AN-158s (the small highwing twin jets scattered around the larger ones in the original video) I was really looking forward to that, but got the safe, run of the mill A320 instead.

First, for @Nino A Condor Airlines 767 pulling up to Terminal 2. Its got quite an interesting serial number for a Boeing: D-ABUS.

Thanks @Corylax18 - Fond memories, hope soon again !

Checked my flight log and I have exactly 4 flights on D-ABUS. One to VRA and three to HAV.

Nothing unusual about the registration, D stands for Germany and ABUS is the a/c reg.

All Condor 767's have last 2 letters ending with U+ a letter, like D-ABUK, D-ABUF etc...

At Lufthansa we have the same system and you can tell from the last 2 letters which kind of a/c it is.

That Blue Panorama B-737-4/500 is an Italian charter airline flying wet lease domestic Cuban sectors in the past.

The SSJ would be cool to see. When I went to HAV around 5 yrs ago I flew in an Interjet A320 which seemed like one of the oldest 320s around given the seat pitch.

I long for the day we can rent a 172 and fly down there.

Same same but different : Boneyard in Buenos Aires ...

For @Corylax18 - taxi and take off run of Cubana IL-96-300 in Cordoba/Argentina.

And a trip report on an IL-96-300 flight Madrid-Havana :
