When this guy was made? Very good. I’m assuming from flavor and prove nave it’s pre embargo.

Celestiales Finos. Pre-Rev to 2002. Can't narrow it down any further based on the cigar and band.

   *The name inside the band label doesn't really point to anything in particular - just the brand's sake. And yes, the cigar does appear to be a not to terribly old Celestial Fino, now discontinued. BTW - is that avatar photo of yours Kirk Douglas?

It’s a portrait of him from paths of glory I had commissioned. 

 

The person who gave it to me got from a collector and he says it’s pre-embargo or pre-revolution.

I get that. But I don’t have much reason to doubt it. But who knows?? It was very smooth and then got ligero happy at the end.

It's a reference to the time when the Romeo y Julieta brand was purchased by the firm of Rodriguez, Argüelles y Cia in 1903. José Rodriguez, through excellent marketing, was instrumental in making Romeo y Julieta a prominent Habanos brand prior to the Revolution. This band was used up until 2008, when it was replaced by the current band that quotes the founding date of Romeo y Julieta as a marca, in 1875. (In actuality the founding date is more likely 1873, but that's another story.)

José Rodriguez built the brand on the back of producing perfecto-shaped cigars. The RyJ Celestiales Finos represents the last regular production vitola of this cigar that was available prior to its discontinuation in 2002. That is, the very cigar that was a contributor to Cuaba coming into existence, but then again...that's another story.

Thank you for the info. So at minimum it’s 19 years old? Man it kicked at the end. In a good way, not in a brand new RASS, battery acid way.

And the CF was really the only Britanicas ever in production. Yes, the Hoyo Obsequios was also a Britanicas but I'm not sure they ever existed--certainly not in any meaningful amount. I've never seen any actual photos of it nor ever seen a box at auction. @Ryan, @ATGroom ever seen actual Hoyo Obsequios?

Funny how the Britanicas is more in vogue now than it was the entire 20th century. I have to say I very much like the vitola myself and hope it's used more and more. 

Edit: there may have been a single Obsequios in that vintage Hoyo cigar sales display that popped up here a few months back. I'll try to find it.
