I’m not afraid to pitch a cigar. My time is limited due to being a father of two young boys so when it’s time to smoke I wanna enjoy it. If that means tossing $10-$20 I’m ok with that. But, most cigars I toss are due to taste not construction. And I don’t toss too many. Maybe 1 per 30-50 cigars.

Everything above pretty much covers me.

Honestly, it really varies.  Right now at a ridiculously high 27% rh (I’m dripping sweat doing literally nothing...) I still take the same approach if it’s a more normal 9%...  If it’s too dry after I forget about it for a couple of weeks (on the back porch in the sun) I wet the wrapper as in the Monte 4 experiment done by @El Presidente and the boys a few years ago once the stick actually draws.   Have yet to have a disappointment.

Good to know. I have two boxes that are suffering from tunneling. So I dry boxed one cigar from each at 30-40% on my desk for 1 day and 2 days respectively and it fixed the tunneling but the cigars didn't taste right.

I'll keep experimenting. Sounds like I just had bad luck.

One day isn’t a lot of time.  Takes quite a bit longer to move moisture out of the depths of even just a single.  Try with a few and let them sit for 2-3 weeks.

This is me, too. I value the time, trouble, and expense that goes into procuring a cigar, but I refuse to go to the mat if a basic corrective action doesn't do the trick. I don't fight 'em...

I agree here. Had to pitch a PSD4 the other day. Fought that SOB for the first half with corrections for canoeing and fireproof wrapper. To the cam it went.

Grabbed a VR Famoso that was excellent in burn and flavor.

Since I got myself a PerfecDraw I’ve never had a cigar I couldn’t make work. And I usually smoke them down to a hot little nub.

I have abandoned cigars because they were cheap and crap. Never a Habano though.

Funny reading this after pitching a parti maduro 1 last night after first third. I want to relax and not make it feel like work. Do enough of the latter all week. Only pitched a couple of CCs in last yr, few more of the NC kind. Don’t mind wrapper cracking issues, etc as long at the taste is there. Or one minor touch up, but not going to relight every 5 minutes.

My tolerance is extremely low these days.)

Problem with fixing major tight draws is that the burn often stays wonky (tunneling, etc) + you have to deal with wrapper cracking from massaging in dry summer months. Ughhhh
