Popular Post Ryan Posted June 17, 2021 Popular Post Posted June 17, 2021 My mother went down the country last week to rummage through the belongings (now ex-belongings) of her recently deceased brother, a catholic priest, so no offspring that we know of. She found a pile of boxes of cigars, mostly dry-cured Dutch stuff but there was one interesting box. 1977 Hoyo Margaritas, still sealed. Last night she got the first visit from me in a while after she told me what she had. I unsealed the box last night to have a look. Of course, these cigars haven't seen a humidor in years but I knew the house my uncle lived in, it was always damp, he was too cheap to insulate it or put the heating on. One of those houses where the salt always caked. There is some water damage inside as can be seen but the cigars look fine. In the humidor they go for a few months then I'll light one up and see how they are. I'm guessing they'll be fine. Interesting description under the water damage which I can't remember seeing before but I'm sure I must have. If he had made Monsignor he probably would have had some more of the good stuff! 26 3
Puros Y Vino Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Nice find! They don't look too bad. How do they smell? If you're patient they can be revived. Just have to do it slowly and gradually over 6+ months. 2

I'd be very surprised if his house ever got much below 55 %RH. I keep my humidors at 60% - 65% anyway, so they won't have far to go, but I'm in no rush. 3
