SigmundChurchill Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 These were all bad in their own ways, but I think the Shatner covers take the win by a landslide. To start nitpicking between the different Shatner covers would be futile. They are all equally offensive to the ears, to the point where I cant make it entirely through any of his songs. He has to know how bad he sounds, right? I always figured he was doing some sort of Andy Kaufman style performance art, where he is intentionally trying to piss off his audience.

It's never been confirmed whether it was a pisstake, he was being serious. However, his album, "The Transformed Man" is highly acclaimed in the spoken word genre. Shatner apparently banged it out in an hour, between filming episodes of Star Trek. Though, I don't know which is more humourously bad it is almost good; Shatner's "Rocket Man" or Nimoy's "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins". 1
