This is box landed fresh from 2424 this afternoon, the sun was shining so that was a good enough excuse to try one ROTT after reading all of the great feedback for this box code.

 

Sorry for the lack of pictures, you’ll have to take my word that the construction was excellent. No touch ups or relights and a great even burn. Paired with a cappuccino to start and a Dr Pepper for the back half.

 

Smoke output wasn’t great for the first half inch but the flavours were all still there. Nutty coffee with a leather and spice on the retro. My palate isn’t sophisticated enough to pick up anything beyond the bold flavours.

 

The final third wasn’t as refined as the rest, slightly bitter, toasted tobacco mainly. Overall 7/10. Will try another in a few months when they’ve had a chance to rest in the humidor.

Nice review. Certainly got the box press, perhaps swelling from high in humidity from being laid damp or storage from the vendor?

Bold move smoking rott. If they turned out that great rott I can only imagine how great they’ll be with a rest.

These were from FOH so no doubt they’ve been stored perfectly, PSP/HQ from 24:24 2 weeks ago. ROTT is usually ok for me, now the box has gone into the humidor I won’t touch it for at least a month. I also used the fridge technique for an hour and then 30 minutes on the side before lighting.

I think it may just be the lighting on that picture, the box is full of dark brown wrappers.

Did you use the fridge technique because the draw was tight or was it because you were smoking it ROTT? Just curious.

Cut it first, draw was on the firm side but smokeable. Thought it was a good chance to try the fridge technique. Definitely opened the draw. I’ll report back in a couple of months when they’ve acclimatised and I smoke one straight from the humidor.

Gotcha. Good thinking, the fridge technique works wonders for tight draws!
