I took the first step, finally bought a humidor and tried to store my own cigars.

But I was a bit confused. How should I do this?

From official website:

Remove the Humidifiers from the Cabinet.

Open the grid by sliding the buttons

Fill the Humidifiers with demineralised water.

Turn the Humidifiers upside down until the excess water has completely run off.

Once they are drained, place them in the open position in the box.

Close the box, leave it on for 3 to 4 days.

Never dampen the walls of the cabinet with a sponge or cloth.(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

From internet or YouTube:

Using a paper towel or a soft cloth, wipe down the entire inner surface of the humidor, including the inside of the lid, with distilled water. (Main difference)

So should I wet the inner surface and cabinet or not???

Thanks buddies.

I wouldn't overthink it....as long as you charge the humidifiers with distilled water and make sure they don't drip you will be fine.  You may need to adjust the vent opening to get the humidity to your desired level.

Thanks very much for the answers.
Makes a lot of sense to me.
I was just a bit nervous to handle my first batch of cigars. Thanks.

Yeah, I would not wipe your humidor down. It could cause the wood to swell and Warp and then your humidor wouldn't seal right. If you have a cheap humidor , you could probably get away with it, but I would just be patient.

If you want, some people might put a shot glass filled with distilled water inside to help season it by adding to the relative humidity for a few days. But definitely lose the foam humidification that came with your humidor, and buy beads, a Boveda pack, or something else like gel crystals online
