Popular Post saltbox Posted January 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2021 Rested at 62RH for just over 2.5 months. The last smoke from my sampler, and one I was very excited for, especially since the last few days have been a bit rainy and it's been tough to sneak in a longer smoke like this one. First third: Opens with creamy dark chocolate and musty earth. It wasn't as noticeable with the Quai d'Orsay Senador, but between this and the H. Upmann Propio I feel like I've gotten a sense for what people say is a consistent flavor note with EL wrappers, but it definitely tastes more balanced with the cocoa in this cigar than the H. Upmann. Middle third: Espresso appears and joins the cream and cocoa powder which are almost pudding-like together. The mustiness is less noticeable now. Last third: The chocolate becomes less dark and more milky, but otherwise not much change to the flavor profile through to the end. Overall: Flavor profile was pretty consistent straight through without much change or evolution, but it was a tasty one. The EL wrapper's musty notes are interesting but I'm not sure they're worth the price premium over the regular production stuff which has been just as tasty, just different. 91/100 My running scoreboard for the sampler: Romeo y Julieta Churchill GEL FEB 20: 93 Partagas Lusitania EBO JUN 20: 93 Bolivar Belicoso Fino LTO JUN 20: 92 Quai d'Orsay Senador EL 2019 TUA MAR 20: 92 Trinidad Esmeralda BSM ABR 20: 92 Cohiba Siglo VI MOL MAY 20: 91 Montecristo Supremo EL 2019 GEM MAR 20: 91 Partagas Maduro No. 1 TUE ABR 20: 90 Montecristo No. 2 RAT JUN 20: 88 H. ReturnFreeRisk Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 You gotta feel pretty great about your overall ratings on mostly 2020 samples!Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
saltbox Posted January 4, 2021 Author Posted January 4, 2021 To be fair I'm still new to Cubans and haven't had a chance to try any aged stock yet, so my scores could be heavily inflated. I might look back on these in the future and decide they all should've been 5 points lower. ?
