Montecristo Especial No. 2 REG OCT 19 (49SRW)

My nominee for 2020 Mr. Dependable, not one that’s particularly “hot” at the moment, perhaps because it’s a classic marca in a classic vitola. 

Draw on this is just right for the size - on the firmer side without ever becoming tiring and with good smoke production. I always try to avoid using my Perfect Draw on skinnies because I find it can exacerbate tar build up, especially with a Montecristo. 

First Third: Opening flourish of mocha, milk chocolate with some early sweet spice that fades quickly. 

Second Third: Milk chocolate becoming progressively darker, with cream and coffee starting to build. 

Final Third: The remaining chocolate is fully dark, and the coffee taste begins to verge on coffee grounds. Cream is gone but cigar doesn’t start to get hot until just after the band, at which point I put it down. 

In closing, this was exactly what I love about this cigar - a pure, concentrated distillation of everything Montecristo.

One of the best Montes rolled in the past few years, IMO. All my Fall 19 REG boxes are glorious, rare rosato-hued Monte.

You're 100% right about the rosado! My Oct 19 REG espy 2 are a completely different shade than my other 2 boxes. I'm going to try one out this morning!

Maybe it's cause of the skinny format, but the flavors really come thru in spades. Monte flavors, but very precise.

This is my first from the rosado box and it’s better already than my REG OCT 18 box already. I have another box I’ll smoke before this but I have high hopes for this box!
